Like a back fire

Gosh! Costed me a bit! Key way on exhaust cam broke. Exhaust cam was not turning when cranking engine while swinging key. By trying to start valves tapped on pistons 1 and 3. 4 valves slightly bent. changed all 8 exhaust valves. had to replace all head bolts. when head was set in- still refused to start. Sprayed quick start, car backfired and melted the cover of the inner air filter and shot a hole through the new air filter. Stressed over the need to buy a computer box ( if incase the computer box was fried). Finally, the computer box had to be reset. Car Started. on test run oil light flickered according to mechanic. Thought now more cost to replace! But i think because it was stationery/ and not started for so long. When i went to pick up- oil light remained off. Drove it home. Would have to use it now. Parts and labour (private mechanic) was not funny. It would have costed me more than an arm and leg (I suppose) if it went into a shop!
