what engines would fit in my 1996 chevy suburban c1500. its got the 5.7 v8
right now but looking to possibly go bigger but the only other engine i know

The 6.5 is a diesel, it would take a good bit of modification to got from a 5.7 to the 6.5. There are better diesels out there. A simpler swap is the newer 5.3 or 6.0. They have way more power out of the box and more potential. Go for the 5.3 if you want a good driver, great medium between power and mpg. If you want a play toy go for the 6.0. Neither of them will "bolt in" but are very popular swaps. Has far as bolt in, you have the best stock 5.7 you can get.
