Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My cruise control in my '92 chevy 1500 doesnt work. I want it to work for better mileage. My park brake light stays on and my wipers are haywire; they dont stop sometimes and the windshield pisser sometimes doesnt work also.

My Mom has a 92 Suburban and the cruze didnt work on her truck either and the brake light came on sometimes. I found that the stop/brake pedal switch was causing the problem. As for your windshield wipers we had a recall for the older trucks and we see some of the newer trucks have problems with the circuit board weld breaking. Thase are just a couple things i have found and know. I work at a chevrolet and cadillac dealership. Hope that helps you out.

sounds like you have some electrical issues. probably a series of shorts in the wiring.

How would I go about checking if the stop/brake pedal switch is causing the problem? I have already tried putting a piece of cardboard in between the switch and the contact, but it didnt work.

There are many contacts in the brake switch. At first the cruise wouldnt work and then a while later the abs/brake teltale light would come on.
