I'm looking at getting a nice loud exhaust(big bore) for my corolla, but am wondering if i would be better just getting a muffler on it?

exhaust or muffler?

If you don't want the cops looking at you, get a muffler.

Any suggestions on what muffler to get?

Just get the one called out for it, Just go to the parts store, sometimes they have listings of performance mufflers that are louder than OEM but quieter than those other stupid looking & sounding big bore things.

Get a glasspack cheap with a nice sound

There you go, that'll work.
