2003 Toyota Corolla - Sudden repairs
Starting December 2010 I have had to make repairs to my car, up until now I have only needed to make routine repairs. Both converters were clogged, replaced starter, spark plugs, breaks, etc. I don't have knowledge about cars. Is this normal? What is the average longevitiy on this vehicle?
If maintained properly, this car should last 200-400,000 miles. I have seen 1 with over 500,000 miles. Converters and starters usually last 150-200,000 miles, brakes 30-60,000 miles. Spark plugs are maintenance items and should be replace w/ wires every 100,000 miles. Crtical maintenance should includes all fluid flushes (transmission, coolant, power steering, brake, and injectors). Lack of maintenance and cheap parts greatly diminish the life of a car.
