Question type: General

I've been told that the Lincoln LS 2001 model may use a different length belt depending on when it was made. (either 108" or 109") is this true? I need to order one.

Go to an auto part store and ask for the belt part number and or the size then order where you like. Yes they are different depending on size of motor and vehicle manufacturers. Good luck

I have looked up the part using the VIN number. My question wasn't worded very well....I read that the same year model up to March of whatever year it was uses one length and after March it uses another. Would the VIN # absolutely get me the right belt?

The VIN should get you the right part. If you are worried about this buy both and then return one or remove the old belt, get the part number off it and use that information to get the correct belt.

aside from all the cliche relays of information we all know that we can provide VIN and hopefiully get the right part, parts pullers make mistakes just like all humans. Beit original question lives way out rural as i do, when that mistake happens it isnt easy. Question was asked does 2001 Lincoln LS V8 use 2 different sizes for given mid-year changes, Im 3 years late but im gonna try to provide an actual answer to your question. 2000-2002 models all had the same size belt- around the 105" to 109" (depending on manufacturer this size varies greatly as you see) 2003-2006 models (production re-keyed in November of 2002 for new model year) they had approx 15" shorter belt on the V8 models ranging at 91"+ depending on manufacturer as stated above. These are for V8 models only, as i do not know much about the 3.0L, nor why it was even made with such a silly option for an engine for a "performance" car. So I hope this helps but surely you found this out by now maybe all these other comments should be deleted since anyone knows they can go to dealer and provide VIN- if they dont, they shouldnt be driving much less trying a repair themselves, cheers!
