why does the red security indicator light continue to flash hours after I turn off my 2015 Forester? Will this wear down the battery?

I think that light is on all the time when your car is off. It is supposed to be a deterrent. My 2002 Ford has the same thing and it has never caused a battery drain.

Exactly. It's to let you and others know that the security system is active. My '08 Mercury Grand Marquis has the same feature. It will not run down the battery. HTH. -Jim

It WILL run down the battery eventually...usually a few weeks.
