2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo brakes

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, my back brakes need to be fixed (we just had front brakes done). You can hear they are grinding metal to metal. We have an appointment nest week for repair. But when I went to put it in reverse today, it hesitated and made a god-awful sound like something was going to fall off. Is that still related to the brakes? It seems it would be very odd for the transmission and brakes to go out at the same time.(but not impossible)

Possible issue: The rear brakes have gone so low that the caliper has over extended as was constantly applying pressure to the brakes. This would give you a hesitation and the loud noise could have been the caliper releasing. 2) Brakes are still metal to metal and have "welded/melted" the pad into the rotor. Please, be careful and if the mechanic is any substantial distance from you, have the vehicle towed. It's not worth risking anyones safety.
