In my 2013 Subaru Impreza,  the VDC llight comes on and I get a check engine message. Vehicle drives and steers fine.  Dealer cleaned a sensor once - said there were bugs in it.

It turned out to be a bad air filter somewhere in there. Dealer replaced it and the light has not come on again
