Is it possible to have a remote starter for a car with a manual transmission?

Asked by Kris Feb 09, 2015 at 08:56 PM about the 2013 Subaru Forester

Question type: Car Customization

This may be an incredibly stupid
question, but is it theoretically
possible to have a remote starter for
a car that has a manual
transmission? Obviously I'd have to
stop leaving my car in gear when I
park....

Every site I checked says yes, but with three conditions: 1) trans left in neutral, 2) emergency brake set, 3) bypass clutch interlock The remote starter will 'monitor' that those conditions are set before allowing the vehicle to be started. I don't have a big problem with that, but you'll probably come to realize at some point emergency brakes love to hang up, so might want to brush up on dealing with that potential, and the idea of bypassing the clutch interlock.... well, apparently this is working for the companies that sell these.
