Anybody here of the issues with the 2013 -2014 nissan pathfinder transmission problems? Is it for real that the transmission goes bad under 3000 miles? Should it detour me from buying one.
Yes, there was a recall for a small number of 2013 models that had to do with the transmissions not meeting the specs that Nissan required. That was a problem by the manufacturer of the transmissions and they were remedied by Nissan. I think it only had to do with hard shifting that clunked on deceleration. I would suggest checking any vehicle for shifting patterns that could be an alert to a potential problem. That said keep in mind that this is a cvt transmission and it is very different from a standard transmission. It takes some getting used to but once you do you will probably love it as so many do. I drive one daily and it has been bullet proof. I love how smooth it is and the responsiveness. Compare this to the transmission in a Toyota Highlander and you will see what I am talking about. Good Luck!
I would not buy a 2013 or 2014 Pathfinder. The transmissions are absolute garbage. We have replaced at least 30 of them at the dealership that i work for. The problem has been fixed in the 2015 model.
Nissan Tech, Did all of the Pathfinder's manufactured between 2013 and 2014 have transmission trouble? Or was it a certain transmission? Certain serial number transmissions from 189546tcvt to 204563tcvt. etc.? Is there something to look for if buying a used 2013 model to know if the transmission had been replaced?
@nissantech1---I bought a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder in October of 2015. I now have around 17,000 miles on the car and my vehicle is setting at the dealership with them replacing the valve body in the transmission for the shutter issue. I found on pathfinder forum that they are indeed still having this issue. When I questioned the service manager at the dealership I was told it was just a fluke...
My wife and I bought a 2015 Pathfinder Platinum and we just took it in because it was "shuddering" . Subsequently they said it was the valve body. NOT impressed because it only has 7300 miles on it.
Same here just about 7500 miles and my 2015 pathfinder is in the shop having to replace the valve body. Took it in for the same reason...."shuddering".
I have 2014 pathfinder, and this is the second time transmission has issues. This vehicle is a trash, and for sure this is my fist and last Nissan.
