Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2012 Edge, CE light came on  yesterday. I was very low on fuel. Car filled today. Light
on. Dis connected battery for 20 min plus. after reconnect, light on immediately. Shouldn't
the light be out until the codes re-set? Car in top shape, 43K. What else to try?

Scan for the car to retrieve the OBDii code or codes so you know exactly what the issue is. A local auto parts store will do it for free, or buy one for $20. The plug is under the steering wheel. Post the code or codes back here for further help.

Tom, thanks, could you address why the light is not out for a while no matter what, after the battery has been disconnected?

My mechanic said the computer has internal memory on the newer models so disconnecting the battery won't clear the codes if something actually needs to be repaired.
