Brake pedal goes to the floor?

Asked by Welder_Doc420 Dec 16, 2018 at 11:27 AM about the 2010 Ford Focus

Question type: General

I have 2010 Ford focus brake pedal goes to
the floor, checked everything can't find no
problem, no lights come on, nothing to
indicate that there's a brake issue. Changed
pads, for about 3 weeks everything was
working fine then problem came back? Every
couple weeks this problem comes back,? I
have driven the car in reverse at about 10
miles an hour and then jam the pedal to the
floor and that works for about 3 weeks.

Driving in reverse and braking only works to loosen a stuck drum brake, which on your car would only be the emergency brake in the rear rotors. Those would have no effect on the brake pedal pressure. You problem likely lies with the Master Cylinder. It has an intermittent internal leak. If you decide to replace the MC yourself, be sure to bench bleed it, otherwise it may allow air in the ABS hydraulic control unit, and that will require a special tool to bleed. So BENCH BLEED the MC.
