86 Chevy 4x4 only runs in 4wd. If it is placed in 2wd it will run for a mile or two then it feels like it pops out of gear. It is manual and the shifter stays in gear. What's wrong with it

Sounds like a transfer case issue

Had someone look at it today. It was the transfer case. Thanks
