will a 1989 k-5 blazer rear end work on a 1977 k-5 blazer??

It will most likely bolt right up and accept the driveshaft. But if the gear ratio in the new rear end doesnt match the front axle then when in 4wd the transfercase will break becasue the front and back wheels will turn at different speeds.
