what gauge wire or ampere s used in wiring harness

I just had a short from a previous owners kluge for a replacement radio (he put
in a new one and added a small fuse box) and burned the WR wire from
ignition to power  I need to replace that wire.  thanks

I'd go 14 guage. That's my liking though.
