1966 Tail/Brake light
My grandson has been stopped 3 times by police in his 66 Fairlane because the center
of the tail/brake light comes on when he brakes. This center part of the lens is clear
and its driving the cops mad. Is this normal for this center clear light to come on when
so what you're telling us is this tail light is defective....because the "blockers" to block the back-up lights are rotted away? we will have to get some legitimate replacements then...no?~
That sounds like someone got the backup lights crossed up with the brake- tail-turn sockets, the clear center should be backup lights and the outer will be tail turn/brake lights. Double check the sockets the backup lights will only have 1 filament in the bulb the the other will have 2 filaments.

you might be able to craft something out of an old file folder+scissors and glue~
good point tennishoes...you should check the bulb...2157 for the two filament and 2156 for the single (rear backup) filament~ (used to be 1156 and 1157 respectively)~
Yes, check the wiring connections for both the neutral safety switch and the brake light switch. They're both a two way connector and it's easy to transpose them. If the problem is with the lenses you may find replacements on ebay or part.com. HTH. -Jim
