Though it lacks low-range gearing for true off-roading, the 2006 Nissan Murano SL AWD is an all-wheel drive crossover SUV with two rows of reclining seats, and a cargo area that expands from 32 to 82 cubic feet once the rear seats fold flat. Powered by a 3.5-liter, 245-hp DOHC V6 and a continuously variable transmission, the 2006 Murano SL AWD rides on 18-inch wheels and all-season tires, and comes standard with 4-wheel ABS brakes, traction control, front and rear stabilizer bars, electronic brakeforce and distribution. Other nice safety features include dual front-side and rear side airbags, automatic headlights, foglights, and auto-dimming rearview mirror. A rearview camera is standard on the SL, to help with backing up. Stability control, xenon headlights, and a tire monitor can be added.
A roof rack can be added and a trailer hitch to two up to 3500 pounds are optional, but the 2006 Murano SL AWD does come with full power setup, a power driver's seat, wheel-mounted audio and cruise control, a CD/MP3 player, intermittent front and rear wipers, a tachometer, and leather and alloy interior accents. There are lots of convenient options that add heated seats and mirrors, memory settings, remote start, a sunroof, a navigation system, and leather seats. For the kids, there's a DVD player and satellite radio available. Drivers of the 2006 Murano SL AWD say it performs well in snow, and like its power, roomy interior, storage space, and the rearview camera. Better gas mileage (19/24 mpg) and more storage compartments are desired.
