BMW 318 History

First produced in 1975 but dropped in 1985, the BMW 318 returned to the 3-series line up in 1991 and has continued to be one of the most popular luxury sports sedans available on the European market.

Drivers are quick to note that recent models of the 318 offer less luggage space than competitors in its class, but the 318 has few peers in performance. "I would strongly recommend the BMW if you are happy with a smaller than average estate but want first class quality car, that's great to drive and will be worth more than most when you come to sell it," wrote one reviewer who was more than happy to part with a couple of extra square feet in the trunk.

A version of the 318 was sold in North America as late as the 1999 model year before being phased out to make way for the revamped 323.
