Ford Ranger History

The Ford Ranger was first introduced in 1983, brought in to replace the aging Ford Courier. The Ranger name had formerly been used as a trim name on Ford's full-size pickups, but was now used as the model name for its line of compact trucks.

The Ranger is truly the compact version of Ford's larger trucks. It has the same styling as the F-series, only smaller in size. Unlike the larger trucks, the most powerful engine on a Ranger has been a V6, not a V8.
