Pros

good mpg, light truck, offroad

Cons

3.0L pretty slow, is a little on the heavy side for a light truck, doesnt have 4 comfortable seats

Yes — The 3.0L SOHC FFV engine is very reliable and has good torque, but slow. Never had a problem with the engine or components. The tranny is weak but gets the job done. Handles like a tank but dropping it 8'' doesnt help that. Can take a turn like a champ! The brakes are aftermarket bc of the 20'' wheels i managed to squeeze in there, but work good. The frame of the truck is very solid along with the rear axle. The inside is pretty nice. The look of the truck is very eye pleasing with nice body lines and curves. Rangers can look real nice when done right. I got the truck with 45,000 miles for $8,000. I think thats pretty good. Also it gets 23-26 mpg highway. Maintance is regular. The truck is fun to drive around town, shows, smooth roads, and turns. I love drivin mini trucks!

Great Truck!!!!!!!!!! — I have my 2000 ranger xlt stepside 3.0 v6 ford truck now for almost 5 years now......mine is a rare color its called ford atlantic blue aka k7 paint code......its just a stand out in a crowd my little truck.....i love my truck ....its the most reliable vehicle i have ever owned..................mine is also a a stepside supercab....i havent had any major mechanical issues with it at all since i bought this truck.....the only things that have gone wrong is a radiator........a alternater ,a battery, and now i need a new a/c compressor........other than that nothing major, and just matenence stuff.....im a mechanic by trade so its a little easier for me to fix my own truck verses a normal person... so matenence or major machanical is no big deal at least for me......and parts are plentiful and cheap....junk yard are full of old ranger jewels with great parts...that you can get for a fraction of the cost........the looks are still great and still get alot of attention...mines in new like shape.......its fun to drive and comfortable and roomy..at least the super cab is...plenty of room to haul all my stuff......its a pleasure to drive...it runs like a sewing machine.....i have over 130,000 miles on mine........i change the oil every 3000 miles and run lucas oil in the engine.........the factory stereo kikcks ass loud as hell ... i added pioneer speakers and it sounds like a concert hall.....i ll never sell my little ford ranger ..its a part of the family........i will eventually drop a v8 small block ford 302 Ho 5.0 out of a mustang in the near future..............and make it the way ford should of made it......in the first place......engine swap is easy on this truck...lmc truck parts sells a v8 swap kit for the ranger and the headers you need to make a v8 fit.........and cheap for the v8 kit...under 200 hundred bucks........

Pros

Never gotten stuck in the vehicle and both 4 wheel high or low and handles in the snow fairly well. its always been a pretty comfortable ride and has handled off-road very well while hunting and doing farm work.

Cons

beings its a short bed and over all a smaller pickup when you hit things like speed bumps and pot holes and such other obstacles, you could really feel when you would hit them.

25

Loved The Pickup! Just Need Something Bigger. — I've always loved driving it in the winter with the 4x4. I've never gotten stuck and the heater in it has always kept me warm. The coldest I've ever started the vehicle was at -25 degrees and that was last winter when I went to visit a friend in Windsor Colorado. Always been a great running truck and the biggest reason I'm needing to get rid of it, is cause i need a bigger pickup for the work that I do.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros

easy to drive, never in the repair shop for anything major- has held up well- no major manufacturer recalls. very reliable. has towed large u-haul trailers when moving furniture for family and friends- has handled all 4 wheel drive situations including deep snow with ease

Cons

very few cons- it is a small truck- not made for more than 2 adults- extended cab fits small children or carries a lot of stuff that you want to keep out of the weather

Well Made Strong And Reliable — this truck has been the most reliable vehicle I have owned- never had any problems with it doing what I asked it to do- commute to work or go camping or moving family and friends' belongings from one house to another. I always felt safe and my kids learned to drive in this truck . In bad weather I insisted that they use the truck and I would drive the front wheel drive vehicle that we owned because I knew the 4 wheel drive would get them home safely

Pros

Great Little Truck! If you can't find them in a Junk Yard, they must still be on the Road. NOTE: Mazda B3000 have a majority on all the same spects., and Parts

Cons

Air Conditioning not found in a majority of Rangers  (Need 2x2 Air, Two Windows, for two People LOL).

Good Over All Truck. — Great On, and Off Road, but can not Pull very well, or what Ford says it can Tow. Gas Mileage is Fair, but all 60/40 Drivers Seats Rip (Must be a Factory Flaw). If you do the Normal Maintenance on this Truck, it will be Safe, and Run for many, many years!

Mysterious — Was great when I first got it, but 6 months later, something happened.... idk what... I've been chasing the problem since... have done everything recommended and even had mechanic look at it. tells me he'll have a diagnosis in an hour, then 3.5 hrs later, & 6 mechanics later... they still dont know whats up....

Good solid truck

Cons

small engine

Moyer's Ranger — I love my truck, altough its a little sluggish on power, but what do you expect from a 3 liter. Te truck is built very well, and handles like a dream. The only downsides are that it doesn't have a whole lot of power and the gas milage wasn't what i was expecting
