Prosgood mpg, light truck, offroad Cons3.0L pretty slow, is a little on the heavy side for a light truck, doesnt have 4 comfortable seats
65
Yes — The 3.0L SOHC FFV engine is very reliable and has good torque, but slow. Never had a problem with the engine or components. The tranny is weak but gets the job done. Handles like a tank but dropping it 8'' doesnt help that. Can take a turn like a champ! The brakes are aftermarket bc of the 20'' wheels i managed to squeeze in there, but work good. The frame of the truck is very solid along with the rear axle. The inside is pretty nice. The look of the truck is very eye pleasing with nice body lines and curves. Rangers can look real nice when done right. I got the truck with 45,000 miles for $8,000. I think thats pretty good. Also it gets 23-26 mpg highway. Maintance is regular. The truck is fun to drive around town, shows, smooth roads, and turns. I love drivin mini trucks!

ProsI LOVE MY TRUCK !!!!!!!!!! the looks the color everything!!!!!!!!!!! Great Truck!!!!!!!!!! — I have my 2000 ranger xlt stepside 3.0 v6 ford truck now for almost 5 years now......mine is a rare color its called ford atlantic blue aka k7 paint code......its just a stand out in a crowd my little truck.....i love my truck ....its the most reliable vehicle i have ever owned..................mine is also a a stepside supercab....i havent had any major mechanical issues with it at all since i bought this truck.....the only things that have gone wrong is a radiator........a alternater ,a battery, and now i need a new a/c compressor........other than that nothing major, and just matenence stuff.....im a mechanic by trade so its a little easier for me to fix my own truck verses a normal person... so matenence or major machanical is no big deal at least for me......and parts are plentiful and cheap....junk yard are full of old ranger jewels with great parts...that you can get for a fraction of the cost........the looks are still great and still get alot of attention...mines in new like shape.......its fun to drive and comfortable and roomy..at least the super cab is...plenty of room to haul all my stuff......its a pleasure to drive...it runs like a sewing machine.....i have over 130,000 miles on mine........i change the oil every 3000 miles and run lucas oil in the engine.........the factory stereo kikcks ass loud as hell ... i added pioneer speakers and it sounds like a concert hall.....i ll never sell my little ford ranger ..its a part of the family........i will eventually drop a v8 small block ford 302 Ho 5.0 out of a mustang in the near future..............and make it the way ford should of made it......in the first place......engine swap is easy on this truck...lmc truck parts sells a v8 swap kit for the ranger and the headers you need to make a v8 fit.........and cheap for the v8 kit...under 200 hundred bucks........ ProsIt gets better gas mileage than most other trucks ConsIts underpowered compared the the 2001+ models which have a 207 under the hood
45
The Ranger — Its only got a 160 under the hood so its a little under powered but it is definatley better than a little 2.3 L ranger. Ran a 17.6 at mapple grove. Gets between 15 and 17 around town and just over 20 on the highway. Not too bad for a truck Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Prosfour wheel drive Constoo high up, bad gas millage

P!nky's Review — Overall it is a good reliable car to have everyday. The performance on this car is that of a boat. It doesn't handle very well because it is a truck. It's appearance is great and it looks good. The cost of ownership is good, it's a reliable vehicle for maintenance, as for gas well it runs on unleaded and E85. It gets about 20 mpg. This is a very fun car to have with everything we have going on in Minnesota.

My 2000 Ford Ranger — I love my truck because it has been extremely faithful. Even after all this time it still looks almost new and it still runs great! The only thing is that it's a 4-cylinder and I wish it had a little more power.

ProsFullfills all of your needs, (with 2 smaller seats for the kids and plenty of room for transporting anything) and is fun to drive! ConsI used to like fords, but i think the only way it beats a foreign car is on the price tag.

Perfect For Your First Truck! — I love the way this truck drives, although it is a a little slow accelerating, it handles nice and everything works pretty good, only a few problems with the tie rods and ball joints but the engine is amazing. i like the exterior style/color better then the interior. it is fun to drive, but it does eat up the gas pretty good. but it deffinatly beats a full-size pickup there. ProsRangers are reliable, American, and great looking vehicles! ConsOnly avoid if 20 mpg is a necessity.

It Is A Good Solid Compact Pickup Truck! — For my Ranger to have a V6 it really does not show it. It only has 150 hp and its not slow but it could use a few extra ponies. The mpg isn't all that great either at just about 15 mpg ( I drive mostly city). Overall Rangers are good quality trucks and this baby is not an exception. This truck is relatively fun to drive but I wouldn't really call it sporty even though it does have the sport package! It is easy to drive, see out of, and is a much better truck than the Toyota Tacoma in terms of build quality. Primary Use: Commuting to work |
