ProsGreat condition, no accidents, well maintained. ConsGas mileage is much better on the newer model Rangers.

Would Buy One All Over Again. Better Options, Better Gas Economy On The Newer Models. — Great power, will pull anything. Love that the 4WD will kick in on its own. Very comfortable for long trips, plenty of storage in the cab, the 4 doors and 2 jump seats help out with getting loads or people in and out. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Prospulls good through the mud Consits a Ford

Ranger — pretty quick for a truck, could sound better with straight pipes, brakes good though they do squeak sometimes, had to replace a wheel bearing due to mudding, i like the step side model, the 4.0 V6 like to drink up the gas i get around 11MPG, fun to drive off road, mud tires are kinda loud around 75.

Prosgreat mpg, factory hard bed cover, easy to park, very asthetically pleasing both in and out ConsCD changer was junk; replaced it with an aftermarket Sony head unit, 3.0 liter engine underpowered in extended cab

02 Ford Ranger Edge Extended Cab 4x2 — This little truck only has the 3.0 liter engine. It is a little weak on acceleration but in return gets about 19 mpg around town and 20-21 mpg on a trip. The best I have ever got is 24 mpg. It has a weather tight factory bed cover on it that splits in the middle with a divider right under the split. It is almost like have a large toolbox and a partial bed. It has split bucket seats with a fold down armrest console and is very comfortable driving. The extended cab is not big enough to haul people but works great as a junk collector. The factory in dash cd changer was junk. It ate 5 cds. I replaced it with a Sony Xplod unit with MP3 input. I was pleasently surprised on winter roads. For a 2-wheel drive pickup, it done very well with just a little extra weight over the rear axle. I drove 25+ miles to work and back without any problems on snow and ice. I really like the ride and handling. I used to own a 92 F-150 and this truck almost feels like a car compared to my old truck. This truck handles very well even in adverse conditions. The turning radius is incredibly tight. I can nearly make a u-turn on a normal road. Maintenance has been very minimal. I had to replace the belt because it got to squealing. Other than replacing the stereo that has been the extent of the maintenance needed. Overall I really like this truck and plan on buying another one when this one wears out. My next one will be a 4x4 with the 4.0 liter engine and have a manual instead of an automatic. Pros20+ mpgs on the highway, a real sleeper on the street or trail ConsWith mudders on the milage goes way down and not the best ride for a truck

A True All Purpose Vehicle — I got this truck in the middle of September right before a very nasty winter. Even not really having felt out my truck's performance, we had a massive ice storm that coated the entire county in over 3 inches of ice, as well as a great deal of snow. This truck took it all in stride. It ran extremely well in the snow and had a strong grip on the ice. Now that spring has come around, the time for muddin' has come. Even without dedicated mudders this truck is a real champ on the trails. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

ProsThis truck handled great off-road between the 4.10 gears and the light weight it could go just about anywhere. ConsThe overall quality of this truck.

Terrible Truck, There Are Better Options Out There. — The performance was decent for a small truck with a 4.0L V6. It handled decently, acceleration was decent as was the gas mileage. The quality is sub-par, water pump seized at 9k miles, brakes were metal to metal at 15k and again at 30k, needed new tires and shocks at 30k. The truck had multiple squeaks and rattles even prior to taking off-roading. The towing capacity was worthless on this truck. Cost of ownership was terrible due to all the issues and wear items that did not last as long as they should have. The ride quality was not the greatest. ProsReliable. Easy to drive. ConsCheap interior. Not exciting to drive.

A Good Reliable Truck, That In Which: The Power Window's Will Ultimately Stop Working. — Engine gets poor MPG... Truck has good power, but at highway speed, transmission causes a 5 second delay from the time you put your foot down, to the time it finally does anything with the power. The Premium Ford 6-Disc changer is garbage... Truck is reliable. has never left me hanging... Does well off-road but lacks personality...Ultimately a very nice looking truck, that starts when you tell it to, but pretty much any amenity Ford put in it will stop working. Whoever installed the interior was drunk. Plus a lucky rock kicked up by a passing big rig will take big chunks out of the plastic hexagon-bubble grill. Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

ProsFun to drive, good mileage for pickup Conscant hold more than about 3 or 4 ppl comfortably

You Get What You See. Ford Quality, And A Great Little Pickup. — It is a peppy little pickup. I was worried about how comfortable it would be coming off a massive behemoth like the 90 F150. But i was suprised. Me and my stepdad can ride in it and not be cramped, and my best friend who is 6'3" has no problems driving it or sitting in the passenger seat. Decent mileage for a 6 cyl, I get about 15 city, 20 hwy. It accelerates very well, I can floor it and get thrown back into the seat. There are some small dings, but in an 8yo truck thats to be expected. I put full synthetic oil in it, so maintenance is a bit costly in that dept, but overall i am very pleased with her.
