Ford Ranger Edge — for a 3.0l V6 it isn't bad. Pulls what i have to gets 20mpg, and jumps nicely to. takes a beating and will not stop. a/c gets cold quick, acceleration isn't bad for a small V6, build quality is good considering it's the cheap model, maintenance and mpg is average for small size truck (takes 6 quarts of oil wear my 5.9l V8 dodge only took 5). 5spd manual is great to drive, love the handling and the supension only wish there was more after market crowd

Loved It, Was Gone Too Soon. — Loved the truck, I had a long commute to work at the time, 32.1 miles one way, so it hurt me at the gas tank, having a heavy foot like I do. While I think it was a fantastic truck and hated to see it go, I did need to downgrade and have something a little more economical for such a long commute.

Good Starter Truck For Anyone. — This truck has been reliable for 7 years and running, as well as good looking. It is easy on the wallet, both in maintinence costs and at the gas pump. It can tow a small trailer or a pair of jet skis with ease.

It Looks Better Than It Drives — Bought this truck used in 2007 and had it just over a year,I liked the offroad ability but it didnt handle too great on gravel and in snow,I was very dissapointed with the fuel mileage I got, there were half-ton trucks that got better mileage than me with my little quarter ton truck.

I Love This Truck And Look Forward To Driving More Fords In The Future. — Well my truck is a bright red ford ranger with four doors and a step side bed with the fx4 off road package. i enjoy the larger of the two six cylinders that ford offered in this truck. power is plenty with the four liter and the 4.10 locking differential. I think the truck handles very well compared to other trucks i have driven. i bought this truck with only seventy two thousand miles and have only done normal maintenance. I think the out side of the truck is very stylish with the interior simple but nice. The way i drive the truck gets around 17mpg. i think this truck is very fun to drive and i look forward to moving into another ford when i have the money to buy what i want.

Cons

Ranger 4x4 — Had the 4x4 option with a lift kit. It made getting to the cottage a breeze. Definitely a must when travelling on the back roads of rural Ontario cottage country. One vechicle I regret selling. Still see it around ... stayed local.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

2004 Ranger Edge Extended Cab, Sb — I bought my Ranger 3 years ago with 17,000 miles on it. It now has over 71,000 miles. I love the way that it sits up high, like a full size pickup. It does create a problem for short or physically challenged people getting in and out however. I had problems with the transmission from the time I bought the truck, and took it back to the dealer at least three times only to be told that nothing was wrong with the transmission. (I have a feeling they just felt they could pull one over on a single woman). Finally, when I moved to another state, I took it to a different dealer and they found what was wrong with the transmission and fixed it. They told me that they couldn't understand why the other dealer hadn't fixed it since there had been a technical bulletin outlining the problem in 2005. Other than that, the truck has not ever given me any problems. Most of the miles that I have put on the truck have been highway miles. On the highway, I average about 22 miles per gallon. The truck rides well, and the seats are comfortable to me. However, the extended cab portion comes equipped with jump seats, which are useless in my opinion. It also is very difficult to get in and out of the back seat, or to retrieve items from back there. All in all, it's been a great truck and I love it.

Pros

Cheaper then some mid-sizes much more affordable than full size. FUN!! puts a smile on your face when you blow past ricers that think they are fast.

Cons

Can't haul many people or heavy loads, gas mileage isn't great.

Fun To Drive And Gets Attention For Being A Ranger — Nice trucks from the factory. Much more fun than a full size and quicker than a full size from the factory, compared to a F-150. Even the 4.0 is a little doggish though. A couple bolt ons and they will move though. Easy to park, comfortable, only gets about 17mpg from the factory. Can't hull many people or very much cargo. Great for around town and picking up things like appliances, very comfortable with 2 people, 3 is fine for short distances.

Good Truck For Your Buck — Good little work truck if you want the middle ground in horse power between a V-8 and 4, has light coupler for tow hitch or just use the bumper ball hole. The power is amazing for its class even with a load.

Good-ol-truck — I know living in Montana I should have the mind set of bigger is better, but this little Ranger gets me from point A to point B with no trouble. The only thing I wish i could change is to get as good as gas milage as the '89 Ranger I use to drive.
