Pros

Hasn't let me down in the 5 years I've had it.

Cons

Gas mileage when its 4 bucks a gallon

Ford Ranger — I love my ranger. Performance wise its not bad for a 4.0L. It definately doesn't have a problem pulling out in the passing lane. The only repairs I've had to do is basic maintenance. Gas mileage is ehhh....but I guess its not bad for a 4,200 lb truck. This truck had never let me down.

Fix Or Repair Daily!

2001 Ford Ranger — Performance is Terrible!!!, if you want good gas mileage then get the 4, if you want decent power go with the 4.0 the 3.0 v6 will just annoy you with its low power and crappy gas mileage. To sum it up 3.0= 4 cylinder power with V8 mileage. Build quality- well there are a lot of recalls on this one. My power steering failed after only 2k miles while it was parked. The passenger seat belt would come undone on its own while driving around town. The styling of the truck is getting really long in the tooth, ford has been using the same cab/body since '93!!! I have spent a lot of money keeping this truck in my fleet. So far I have done 4 brake jobs, 3 clutch repairs, 4 sets of tires and so on. And I only have 89k miles on it! It can be a fun truck to drive, but only in the right situation.

My Truck — I love the truck, but I am startimg to see where the previous owner didn't much care about maintenance Performance is good, it accelerates well, and handles really good. Build quality is very solid. I have hit a desk in the middle of the freeway at 80 mph and only broke the grill, rear ended a couple of cars, and there is no visible damage from these. Appearance is starting to wan due to the previous owner not really giving a crap

Meh ... Its Suitable . — My weakest of my 3 owned vehicles . With that said , its also the heaviest. I feel that the 3 liter has to think about speeding up . Its better on Gas than the S10 despite what fuel costs.. Engine always fires up, MY thermostat is rated at 195 degrees but will melt your face off if you need it too. Great overall truck for daily driver...

It Will Do Vehicle — This is nice looking truck. This is our second Ford Ranger. Good round-about rig for local commuting. Holds a 12 foot aluminum boat for fishing our local lakes. It gets okay gas mileage. Drives well in the rain. Good radio.

Pros

It's a truck so you can throw things in the bed

Cons

Tiny back "seat", poor fuel economy

Small — I don't like much about this truck. It's small all around, it is cheaply made, and the extra four miles to the gallon you get over a similar year full size truck or SUV is not worth the sacrifices in size.

Awesome looking truck

Cons

Towing capacity, lack of lift kits for a decent price

Good For The Part Time Off-roader Or Someone Looking For A Functional Multipurpose Truck On A Budget — Great truck all around. Decent power, very stylish out side. The 4.0l V6 hasn't given me any problems at all. I love the edge interior with the vinyl floors and seats. Very easy to clean up. However my only true gripes about the truck would have to be the gas mileage and how big the bed is with it being a stepside and the fact that the Edge, 4x4, 4.0l ranger (2001) is extremely hard to find performance parts and lift kits for!

Pros

comfortable ride for a truck

Cons

not a whole lot of room for many passengers

Its Great If You Dont Need To Lug Many People Around, And Can Tow Little Things Like Jet Skis Easily — performance wise, well hey, it is a truck, not a sports car, build quality is pretty decient, ive owned and family has owned quite a few fords, its definetly on the better side of there vehicles. Appearance, I love it, Ive allways liked rangers, Ive wanted one since I started looking for my first car, interior is comfortable for me atleast, plenty of room, unless I need to fit more then two people, you gotta be pretty small to fit in the back cause it only has two little pilot seats. Its a little bit costly to maintain, but it is a 4wd and I knew that getting into it, ive had just a few minor issues with u-joints and hubs but nothing major. Ive driven many trucks and pickups, its definetly easier to drive then a full size truck, and imo it kills the old chevy s-10, its much more comfortable to drive and the ride doesnt even compare, the s-10 can be alot rougher. Overall I couldnt be happier with the truck I dont think, I love it.

Ford Macho Ranger — We've loved this truck from day one. Plenty of room for storage on short or long trips, to work and back, etc. Comfortable driving with cruise and efficient with a 5 speed. No pesky and expensive window motors either! I like it a lot. It does have a little bit of a blind spot with the B pillar being so big but isn't an issue. Sold July '12

Guzzles More Gas Then I'd Like It To. Achieve Decent Mileage With It Being 2WD, Easy Driving, K&N Cold Air Intake And All More Fulids Being Full Synthetic.

Built Ford Tough — 2001 Ford Ranger.Edge Edition.2WD Rear Wheel Drive.Extendend Cab With Truck Cap.V6 4.0 L (245 in).Automatic Transmisson. Since Owning It, I've Converted All My Fluids To Synthetic, K&N Cold Air Intake, Plugs, Wires, Motorvac (A Complete Fuel System Cleaning). Truck Has Never Let Me Down And Has Towed Whatever I've Trown In The Back Of It With No Problem.
