Pros

Great truck starts EVERY TIME! Looks good, and handles well. Interior is sufficient even on longer trips. Base model has no frills but it works all the time. Nothing electrical to go bad! Parts are ridiculously cheap! I mean, compare them with about any other vehicle and they are almost always the cheapest! My calipers on the fronts cost me -$10. That's right! Napa paid me to return my old ones more than the new ones cost. Final price $10 they owed me! How cool is that?

Cons

Stiff ride forces you to take corners and drive differently. No 4x4 drive. But that's no fault to the truck. Handles surprisingly well in snow with my quad in the back all winter long. I joke that it's my back-up ride "just in case!" Timing belt went out at around 147,000 Miles, but I chalk that up to age and wear and tear. besides, the repair was only $300! can't beat that with a stick!

Most Reliable Vehicle I've Ever Owned! — left me stranded 1 time due to the timing belt breaking. a cheap fix at $300. That was water pump and everything while they had it apart! You really need to get this truck! 4 cylinder 5 speed manual trans is the best package! I get as much a 32MPG! that's driving like my grandpa, but who cares? Saves me gas!

Pros

Cargo space for a light truck, has been low maintenance, reliable, don't need a jack to get under and change oil, good power (more than needed)

Cons

kind of load on the HW, mileage, plastic dash looks cheap, shifts in/out of 4wd a little slow for my taste.

A Great Door Banger For People With To Many Toys — This has been a great car for me. I have used it for hauling up to 8 full size mtn bikes, slept in the back on ski trips, traveled all over the NW in all kinds of weather. Its weaknesses of mileage and road noise are more than made up for its modest price tag holding true to the Ranger stereotype of reliability as a light truck. It will tow in a pinch, but if you are going to pull anything heavy or far load the box with some weight to help the ride.

1999 Ford Ranger — Truck is awesome. Nothing ever breaks on it. Powerful 4.0L V6 engine. 4x4 4 Doors. I would drive this truck cross country without my fingers crossed. Ford makes damn good vehicles. It is so fun to dive and it rides nice.

1999 Ford Ranger Xlt Can Handle Almost Anything. Recommend To All — I love this truck. Weve experienced mostly good things together. It wasnt the first truck i wanted to drive, but im glad i did. Its passed down from grandparents and if not for me getting a new 2006 motor, the truck would just continue sitting in the driveway. The alignment is off, headlights are yellow, wipers come on when you hit a bump (or when you say something good about the truck its "happy" sign is the wipers), back doors wont open, and it can lose traction when hitting a bump at high speeds. Then again its 15years old. It has won races against camaros and bigger trucks. The gas mileage is better with this new engine but maybe i drive it too much to realize it from The commuting from school, work, and visiting friends. Its Reliable, can off-road, tow, travel quite a ways. She may be small but can carry a lot. I push her limit at times to climb hills but so far no injuries. it is truly a great truck. Everyone has told me not to invest in it because its old and could break down. Well, ive put more than enough miles on the truck and shes still running. Someday ill put a lift on it and maybe a paint job. I have a great mechanic who has fixed up the truck and has made it a "classic" in my eyes. Maybe some day it will be.

Amazing Ranger — Well - it was actually a 4 door. I put about 50k miles on this truck in 11 months. Never a problem. Very solid, and towed well. Would like to have another (one day). Went through, over, on, much terrain and weather with this truck.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

1999 Ford Ranger Big Bass — I bought it in 2005 with 79,000 miles on it. I've put 40,000 on since. I have a Rockford Fosgate P1 15" sub with a 1000 watt Kole Audio amplifier, but i still have the stock stereo because it sounds really good. I like this truck for its size and handling, but it could use more in the power department.

Great — I bought this truck for me because I wanted to be able to haul plants, gardening things, etc. and only had a family car. General has run great for us over the years. This is a great truck. Highly recommended.

Good Reliable Truck For Work Or Play — I love this truck it has provided many good years of service. Overall, this will make a good reliable vehicle for work or play. The only reason it is being sold is to replace with small car for my daugther.

Great Single Family Vehicle — I want a 4 door 4 wheel drive, its a great vehicle to drive daily, great on gas mileage, roomy enough to do the work of a full side. Small seats in rear extended cab, plenty big for grocery or hauling small items

Love It — Great little truck, sorry to see that ford stop making them. Would buy a new one if they were still being made. Flex fuel engine MPG can be a little tough on the old wallet. 120,000 and still going strong.
