Our test vehicle, a Macan S, was equipped with nearly $20,000 in extras, including performance upgrades and a striking Volcano Gray paint job. In contrast, the 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid embraced a more conservative design, reminiscent of the popular RAV4 but on a larger scale. The Grand Highlander offered a spacious interior with seating for up to eight and ample cargo space. Our test model, the Hybrid Max Platinum, featured a Storm Cloud paint finish and a luxurious interior with leather and artificial suede upholstery. While the exterior design was familiar, the interior prioritized functionality, with logically arranged controls and a focus on comfort. The Grand Highlander provided a practical and family-friendly option with a touch of luxury in its higher trims.

The 2022 Porsche Macan offered a range of powertrains, with the base model featuring a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 261 horsepower. The Macan S, our test vehicle, was equipped with a twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 engine, delivering 375 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. This setup allowed the Macan S to accelerate to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono Package. The Macan's performance was further enhanced by a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission and a fully variable all-wheel-drive system. The Macan S excelled in handling, thanks to its adaptive damping suspension, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, and performance tires, providing a thrilling driving experience on winding roads.

The 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid Max prioritized performance with its turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and electronic full-time AWD, producing 362 horsepower. This powertrain allowed the Grand Highlander to accelerate swiftly, aided by a traditional six-speed automatic transmission. While the Hybrid Max sacrificed some fuel efficiency, achieving 27 mpg compared to the standard hybrid's 36 mpg, it offered a towing capacity of up to 5,000 pounds. During testing, the Hybrid Max demonstrated impressive acceleration and a comfortable ride, although its handling was more secure at moderate speeds. The Grand Highlander excelled in providing a smooth and confident driving experience, with excellent outward visibility and advanced camera systems.

The 2022 Porsche Macan offered a comfortable driving experience for front-seat occupants, with optional 14-way power-adjustable seats providing heating and ventilation. However, rear-seat space was limited, especially for taller passengers. The redesigned center console featured haptic touch controls, which, while modern, required drivers to look away from the road. Cargo space was modest, with 17.2 cubic feet behind the rear seats, expandable to 53 cubic feet with the seats folded down.

In contrast, the 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid provided ample space and comfort across all three rows. The Platinum trim featured leather and artificial suede upholstery, with heated and ventilated seats in the front and second rows. The Grand Highlander offered 20.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, expandable to 97.5 cubic feet with the second and third rows folded.
