It also boasted 20-inch standard wheels, with 22-inch wheels as an option, and acrylic glass-covered wheel center caps to protect the “Wagoneer” logo. The interior shared styling features with the Wagoneer, such as an integrated infotainment touchscreen and a two-spoke steering wheel, but offered more convenience features and higher-quality materials, including 24-way power front seats with memory, massage, lumbar support, and four-way power headrests. Nappa leather upholstery was standard, with higher-grade Palermo leather available, along with aluminum and American Walnut wood trim.

The 2022 GMC Terrain received updates to its front styling, wheel designs, taillights, and interior trim. The new AT4 trim level featured a bolder grille design, black 17-inch alloy wheels with sport-terrain tires, and AT4 badges. The test vehicle came with Ebony Twilight metallic paint, a black leather interior, and several packages, bringing the MSRP to $41,810. More affordable SLE and SLT trims offered standard front-wheel drive, while the Denali trim added luxury. The Terrain's interior materials and execution reflected its entry-level status, with a head-up display on a clear plastic panel and pushbutton transmission controls that freed up space on the center console. However, the storage tray was too narrow for a smartphone, and the cabin's materials and design did not fully meet expectations for a vehicle priced over $40,000.

The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer was powered by a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine, producing 471 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque, with cylinder deactivation for improved fuel economy. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, it could accelerate from zero to 60 mph in six seconds, impressive for its roughly 6,400-pound weight. The Grand Wagoneer featured standard four-wheel drive with the Quadra-Drive II system, including a two-speed transfer case and electronic limited-slip differential. It also had a Quadra-Lift air suspension system, providing up to 10 inches of ground clearance and the ability to ford up to 24 inches of water. Despite its power, the Grand Wagoneer was best driven at a stately pace, as its ride became bouncy at higher speeds, and its steering was imprecise.

The engine's torque was available between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm, but there was a delay off the line. The nine-speed automatic transmission kept the Terrain in the torque band once rolling. The Terrain AT4 offered FWD mode for fuel conservation, AWD mode, Off-Road mode, and Hill Descent Control. It had 7.9 inches of ground clearance and a four-wheel independent suspension. The Terrain AT4 provided a good ride on pavement, with thick tire sidewalls absorbing bumps, but it was not well-suited for off-road use. The powertrain met fuel economy expectations, achieving 26.2 mpg on the evaluation loop.
