2021 Jeep Renegade Reviews Summary

Few brands enjoy as defined a reputation and identity as Jeep. Much like Porsche and performance driving, Jeep has carved out its niche as the “off-road brand.” Its vehicles may not traverse the Rubicon every day of the week, but each model in its lineup is capable of doing so (when properly equipped). That even includes the 2021 Jeep Renegade subcompact SUV. The Renegade can venture off the beaten path when needed and it offers practical utility and intuitive technology for everyday life.

2022 Nissan Rogue Reviews Summary

The 2022 Nissan Rogue is a two-row crossover compact SUV with frameless, unibody construction, riding on a platform that was all-new for 2021 and shared with the soon-to-arrive next-generation Mitsubishi Outlander. It comes with front-wheel drive (FWD) or available all-wheel drive (AWD) and in four trim levels. FWD prices start at $26,700 and go up to $36,480 (plus options), equating to a $650 increase for FWD models and $750 increase for AWD models compared to the 2021 model year. Adding all-wheel drive costs $1,500 on any trim level. And those prices include a new, more powerful engine and a new transmission. At 33 mpg combined, the 2022 Rogue is the current leader in its non-hybrid compact crossover SUV class.

2022 Nissan Rogue

7/10

The 2021 Jeep Renegade, introduced in 2015, drew inspiration from the iconic Wrangler SUV, featuring a boxy profile, circular headlights, and a seven-slat grille. Its design, refreshed in 2019, carried over into 2021 with some previously optional features becoming standard. Inside, the Renegade offered a modern, functional cabin with an upright center stack reminiscent of the Wrangler, making controls easily accessible. It came in various trims, including Sport, Jeepster, Latitude, Upland, 80th Anniversary, Islander, Limited, and Trailhawk, each offering unique features and equipment.

The 2022 Nissan Rogue, redesigned in 2021, continued with a mature look, sharing design elements with the Pathfinder. It featured a V-motion grille, multi-level LED headlights, and a floating roof illusion. The interior boasted a layered dash design with contrasting colors and surfaces, an electronic gear selector lever, and ample storage space. The Rogue's cabin was equipped with a 9-inch infotainment display and a 7-inch or 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, depending on the trim. The Zero Gravity front seats and spacious second row provided comfort for passengers.

Performance

2021 Jeep Renegade

2022 Nissan Rogue

8/10

The 2021 Jeep Renegade offered two engine options: a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque, and a turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder with 177 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque. Both engines were paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, available in FWD or 4WD. While neither engine was particularly spirited, the turbocharged option provided better torque and refinement. The Renegade's ride quality was solid, with good cornering stability and maneuverability, making it a great city car. The Trailhawk trim, with its off-road capabilities, was the only "Trail Rated" model.

The 2022 Nissan Rogue featured a new 1.5-liter VC-Turbo engine with 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque, an improvement over the previous model. The engine's variable compression technology allowed for better power and efficiency. The Rogue's CVT transmission offered wider gear ratios, enhancing acceleration and responsiveness. The chassis and suspension provided a smooth, controlled ride with minimal body roll, and the electric power-assisted steering offered good feel. The Rogue's turning diameter was a tight 35.4 feet.

The Rogue's interior was designed with numerous storage options, including bottle holders, cupholders, a glove compartment, and a center console bin.
