2019 Honda Passport Reviews Summary

With four SUVs currently in its lineup, it may be hard to imagine, but there was a time when Honda had no idea how to build one. In 1993, Isuzu did the hard work, offering its body-on-frame Rodeo, which Honda rebadged as the Passport until 2002. Today's modern Passport is a Honda Pilot without a third-row seat, and like the Pilot (and the Ridgeline pickup), it's based on the Odyssey minivan chassis. And despite being tailored to families and outdoorsy types, the Passport is one of the most simplistic, unadorned new SUVs on sale. Offering basic transportation with gobs of space, all-wheel drive, and high ground clearance, the Passport hasn’t altered its original formula—and that's a good thing.

2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid Reviews Summary

One of the forerunners to today’s seemingly never-ending onslaught of crossover SUV debuts, the Honda CR-V entered the market when SUV meant body-on-frame truck and CUV meant, well, nothing. The year was 1996 and the only other crossover option in the U.S. was the Toyota RAV4, which went on sale the year prior. Since then, hybrid technology has become commonplace. Yet, Americans have lived without a battery-assisted Honda crossover. That finally changes, with the debut of the 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid.

2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid

7/10
CarGurus experts rate both the 2019 Honda Passport and the 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid a 7 out of 10 for look and feel. The Passport's design is reminiscent of a bygone era when SUVs didn't hide their truck roots. It features a boxier and more rugged appearance compared to the Pilot, with a larger blacked-out grille, restyled front bumper, and black 20-inch wheels. Inside, the Passport offers a spacious and practical cabin with above-average fit and finish. The 2020 CR-V Hybrid shares the same design and dimensions as the gasoline-powered CR-V. It features subtle visual differences such as blue-outlined Honda emblems and "Hybrid" designations. The interior remains largely unchanged, with the addition of a push-button gear selector and other hybrid-specific features.
