The main changes for the GMC Envoy in 2006 came in the form of some exterior changes and stability control. Otherwise, this midsize luxury SUV retains the same general features from the previous year. The 2006 GMC Envoy comes in 6 trims: 2WD and 4WD versions of the SLE, SLT, and Denali.
The SLE and SLT use a 4.2 L, 291 hp I6 engine with 4 speed automatic transmission while the Denali packs some extra power with its 5.3 L, 300 hp V8. All trims have 4 doors, seat 5, and generally get 15 mpg in the city and 21 on the highway. Towing capacity across trims ranges from 5200 to 6600 lbs. As for features, power and leather seats come as options in the SLE and as standard features in the SLT and Denali.
If reviewers could talk directly to the execs at GMC about the 2006 Envoy, they'd say 'nice try, but no cigar.' While the SUV has a lot of options and powerful engine choices, drivers would appreciate better handling and steering. The 2006 Envoy represents a decent effort for a domestic SUV. However, GMC will need to go back to the drawing board if it intends to turn the Envoy into a legitimate contender.

GMC Envoys are great vehicles. I owned a 2006 which I bought used and it was a fantastic vehicle. It was caught in a flood and totaled so I found a 2004 and have had it for about 5 years. No issues. They are dependable and ride well. I will buy another if something happens to this one. I would recommend GMC Envoys to anyone. Jul 03, 2022

back and it has side compartments in the back as well as a cover to put over your things so people can't see what you have in the back hatch! The fuel is also pretty impressive in todays economy. There is less leg room in mine, and the back seats cannot be heated. I also don't like how the people in the front of the car must control the air/heating and how if you want to listen to the radio or a cd in the back, you have to ask the people in the front to change the cd or the song. Other than those little irritants, it's a great car.Aug 31, 2013

Could have more pickup from the start,the weather stripping in the dr jams comes off to easily if you bump it,could be a little more roomier inside and for what I paid for it should have more options such as moonroof/pwr seats/better stereo/.Gas mileage is good and the trk drives very nice and is a good looking.Seems to eat up the goodyear tires though had them replaced at 15k miles.Jan 25, 2010

have had this car for over one year and only had to replace one major part that had a rock chip in it. over all for the having a V8 it gets decent gas at 19 in the city. and the V8 has the power to get you on the highway very easily.Jun 12, 2009

This vehicle is likely no longer logical with the new crossovers coming from GM and others. Not sure why a 2008 model was made. The handling is mushy. the engine is strong. The ride is bouncey and road and wind noise is too loud. Engine starts loud. Breaks and traction lights always coming on at weird times for no apparent reason. With all that said, this type of car us a must have for my life style. Next time it will likely be a slightly smaller crossover for me. Times have changed

I've had a lot of problems with my vehicle. It has been in the shop a total of 167 service days since I leased it in 8/06. They almost bought it back but then told me I WOULD HAVE TO PAY THEM TO TAKE IT BACK- $8000!!!! The vehicle has been in over 4 times for transmission, road harshness, tire, brake, body moulding, and belt issues.....it will never be right. I am totally screwed once the lease is up. I feel like the vehicle is comfortable, though. It has great power and is a trooper in the snow. She is gorgeous....just a pain in the butt. The dealership hasn't been great- which is a disappointment since I work there.Dec 22, 2008

How to crank my 2006 GMC Envoy Denali without a key
I have lost my keys and I'm trying to get my car back to my house but when I get in my car the steering wheel will continuously turn without being locked and the key isn't in it is that supposed to do that. And just wanted to know is there a way I can get my car to crank where I can get it home

my 2006 gmc envoy denali starts drives a few miles then dies and wont restart
i replaced fuel pump, fan clutch, sprk plugs, plug wires, pullys, belts, oil pressure sensor (twice) i was driving down the freeway and it suddenly dies. and reduce engine power light came on. now i can drive it a few miles and it dies and wont start for hours and hours. then about 8 to 10 hours later it starts and drives again to die and not restart
