The biggest update you'll notice in the 2005 GMC Envoy comes in the form of the 2WD and 4WD Denali trims, which bumps the total trim number to 6. The new Denali sports a 5.3 L, 300 hp V8 powertrain with 4 speed automatic transmission, a noticeable power boost from the 4.2 L, 275 hp I6 found in the 2WD and 4WD SLE and SLT trims. In addition to a more powerful engine, the Denali has some fancy exterior accents that include a chrome grille, redesigned fascia, and 17 inch wheels.
As for other specs, the 2005 GMC Envoy generally gets 15 mpg in the city and 20 on the highway. This midsize SUV has 4 doors, seats 5, and offers a solid list of interior features that include standard ABS brakes, power windows, and power door locks. Towing capacity on this midsize SUV can range from 5100 to 6700 lbs.
Overall, drivers have same mixed feelings about the Envoy that they've always had. While many of them like the solid list of features and capable engine choices, they'd appreciate better steering and handling. The 2005 GMC Envoy represents a solid domestic SUV that looks to improve over the next few years as the model evolves. However, you can do better if you do your homework.
4.5 Overall rating
(13 reviews)The 2005 GMC Envoy is a great car. Handles well for an SUV and changing from 2 wheel drive to 4 wheel drive on the fly comes in handy in rain and snow conditions. Interior is very nice with the upgraded leather, heated / power seats and Bose sound system and sunroof make this a fun car to drive.
There is not much that I can complain about when it comes to the envoy. I will say that it is no Land Rover but I also didnt spend $60,000 on it. The rise is amazing the interior is spacious and comfortable in all aspects. The one problem I have with the vehicle if you could call it that is that the engine lacks the power to really get up and go when you need to, but that is also coming from a person who has been drag racing 2 of his last 3 vehicles. I would suggest this vehicle to everyone.
This vehicle gives you the power of the larger full sized SUVs but in a mid size. The comfort is consistent with the Denali line and its well appointed. You will enjoy driving it but not all the stops at gas stations. Still the cargo space is impressive.
Perfect size suv good economy and enough Hp
This car has been great to me, just your standard wear and tear maintenance. No major mechanical issues. Smooth ride of an SUV with plenty of power and loaded with features. I wish they made a new one just like it and I'd buy it in an instant!
