About 2006 GMC Envoy
The main changes for the GMC Envoy in 2006 came in the form of some exterior changes and stability control. Otherwise, this midsize luxury SUV retains the same general features from the previous year. The 2006 GMC Envoy comes in 6 trims: 2WD and 4WD versions of the SLE, SLT, and Denali. The SLE and SLT use a 4.2 L, 291 hp I6 engine with 4 speed automatic transmission while the Denali packs some extra power with its 5.3 L, 300 hp V8. All trims have 4 doors, seat 5, and generally get 15 mpg in the city and 21 on the highway. Towing capacity across trims ranges from 5200 to 6600 lbs. As for features, power and leather seats come as options in the SLE and as standard features in the SLT and Denali. If reviewers could talk directly to the execs at GMC about the 2006 Envoy, they'd say 'nice try, but no cigar.' While the SUV has a lot of options and powerful engine choices, drivers would appreciate better handling and steering. The 2006 Envoy represents a decent effort for a domestic SUV. However, GMC will need to go back to the drawing board if it intends to turn the Envoy into a legitimate contender.
