You get a car! You get a car! You get a car! Sound familiar? Oprah's big audience giveaway signaled the real introduction of the new 2005 Pontiac G6 to the consumer market. Looking to get back to is performance car roots, Pontiac had recently gone through some a new design philosophy for its current models. The 2005 G6 sports sedan was a replacement for the Grand Am and used a similar platform, but with a lot more European influence in its style, interior luxury features, and the newly developed stiffer Epsilon frame.
It was offered as a base model and a GT, though both had the same 3.5-liter, 200-hp V6 matched with a 4-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode. The GT added standard ABS brakes, a sports suspension, integrated rear spoiler, 17-inch wheels, and more widely adjustable front seats. A longer wheelbase meant more stable handling and a little more rear passenger room, though sunroof owners will notice a definite decrease in headroom. The 2005 G6 offers either a traditional sunroof or the new Panoramic roof, which features four panels that fold up accordion style, creating a unique exterior add-on. The Panoramic roof is a big hit and can be opened in four stages.
Inside, the 2005 G6 is more understated than past Pontiacs, and even the base includes cruise control, air conditioning, remote etnry, a driver's information center, and power windows and locks. The rear seats fold flat for more cargo room. So far, a lot of G6 owners like its power and acceleration, as well as the way it handles curves. The interior is comfortable for a family, and all the standard features are highly touted, particularly the remote start in the GT. Gas mileage is also a perk. Negatives include the limited headroom in the back, a small trunk, and a cheap plastic interior. The Panoramic sunroof tends to rattle a lot, and many G6 owners report their car has seen a lot of visits to the mechanic.

Love the space, reliability and fuel efficiency. I'm not an American car guy but with this one I definitely love it. I don't like the fact that you can't adjust the drivers seat. So I feel like I'm on the floor.May 20, 2015

This car is a great investment if you're looking for something fun. It handles great and rides like a dream. The 6 disc cd changer is great to have, it helps give you more of a hands free variety in music. The windows have a nice tint on them and they do a good job at keeping the brightness from the sun out. It's just a great car. Sep 18, 2012

I love the car as a whole, it is my second one. Everything always runs beautifully no matter the miles on it. It has a large sunroof that's great for the summer, but also is a great car in the snow even though it's only fwd.Aug 07, 2012

The Pontiac G6 GT is a great car to drive in the summer. It is reliable in the
winter. It has a great view from the panoramic sunroof giving it the feel and look
of a convertible.
However, the alignment is off quite often and the sunroof can be very noisy on the
highway or driving in high winds.
But overall a great car to drive if you live in the city and want to show it off to your

My 2005 Pontiac G6 GT is one of a kind. I have 20 inch Enkei 5 spoke chrome rims with matching black overlays, custom sponsorship decals, tinted windows, flip-out Kenwood in dash dvd/nav system, two Rockford Fosgate P3 15's hooked up to a 4000 watt amp, and a custom grille. More upgrades are in the future to help my G6 stand out even more from the crowd.Nov 03, 2009

The G6 has great mid range acceleration and OK top speed with the limiter set to 120 mph for the 2005 and 2007. Panoramic sunroof is a great feature but is problematic. Handling is a dream with 4-wheel independent suspension and with great tire that car is nearly impossible to get it to trouble. Gas mileage is great with numbers varying between 25-31 mpg. The build quality is great for a first year car. I really enjoy the stock stereo which is unbelievable for stock. Its just overall fun to own and even more fun to drive. Oct 03, 2009

i love my car, its peppy, and i find it very comfy to drive in. it is kinda cheaply made though. considering we went through a puddle of slush and ripped off the bumper. lol i love the over all style and speed of the car. i honestly have to say it would be better if i would have got the 6 sp. standard with the sunroof :P :) handling is amazing! gas milage is average, better on highways. maintenance is a downfall for parts. the wheel baring just went in ours and it was $473 for the part through GM, but ended up getting the part for $263. but overall i have to give my car a 5 star rating due to the fact that every car, truck or suv is going to break and have its downfalls, but i love the style, speed, and comfort of the car. i think in my opinion it is a fun little car to drive. :) Sep 11, 2009

I really like my car. I bought it almost 5 years ago new. I've not had many issues but now I have a huge one and that is the panaramic roof. They only made them for 2 years because the wear out. I am in the process of having mine replace (very expensive). The glass is warped and there is none in stock so it is being manufactured. I have no idea how long that will take. Jul 21, 2009

car has amazing acceleration for a sedan and it handles great!!!! after the turbo mod it is a speed monster!!!! the aftermarket parts are amazing too!!!!! doesnt take much to make it more to look at either!!!! i give it four stars!!!Jul 11, 2009

Nice car overall. Some little issues with the ignition socket for the key. The trunk is huge but the top part is designed so that if you open it when there is snow it will fall down in the trunk. 9.2 L / 100 km in average, better for highway than city driving.Jan 07, 2009

I love my Beast! He so pretty! It's all leather, remote start, sun-roof, it drives super fast! great pick-up! i think i got an ok price out of it but not on the percentage rate.. yea i jumped the gun!!! altrhough next time, i'lll probably still get the car and negotiate!!! I liked this car even though I only kept it for a year. It was comfortable and looked pretty sporty. Unfortunaltely it quickly became too common. the color especially. This GT model was soon outdone by the GPX. Interior was of very good quality. A turning point for GM autos.Jan 17, 2008

Car won't start after dying twice while driving
I have a G6 Pontiac and the heat went out was gonna replace the thermostat and when I was driving it home to fix it it shut off when I came to a stop, it restarted drove a little bit was about two miles from home and it shut off again and then it wouldn't restart. Has power lights turn on and it just does a rapid clicking not a load click like a bad starter like a short or something could it be a bad ground or something else??

Popping in front driver side when turning right
My Daughter drove her 2005 Pontiac G6 over an embankment into a dich driver side first. No cosmetic damage to the car at all and I was able to drive it home. However now there is a clunking/popping noise only when turning right. Does anyone have a quess as to what that could be? I am leaning toward the CV joint as after inspection i found no ball joint or tie rod breaks and the wheel is tight when checked for vertical and horizontal movement
