It must be the same feeling man experienced when they first discovered fire. Or the wheel. The 2005 Grand Caravan's innovative Stow 'N Go seating has been a revelation for minivan owners everywhere. How did they ever cope without it?
All hail Stow 'N Go seating, a feature that allows for a multitude of configurations of seating and cargo space in the second and third row. For the first time in a Grand Caravan, the second and third row seats fold flat into the floor. When upright, the floor compartments add more storage. The rear seats split 60/40 and can be turned to face the tailgate. They fold out into a king-size bed with adjustable mattress numbers and can microwave meals in 30 seconds! (Well, the last two I made up) The feature has made storage and seat removal a lot easier for drivers who complained about the heaviness and bulk of the third row seats.
The 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan lost the eX trim and added an SE Plus instead. New features for 2005 are more safety-oriented, including curtain side airbags for all rows and a driver's knee airbag. Traction control is standard on SXT. For the first time, AWD is not offered on any Grand Caravan to make room for Stow 'N Go. A new optional ceiling rail lets you attach storage bins or other items. Second and third-row seats can recline back, and the seats themselves are more cushiony.
Not a surprise, the Stow 'N Go is a huge hit, in addition to already much-loved features, like cargo space, quiet ride, car-like handling, good acceleration, and a well-thought out interior. Repair record is still a problem, with a focus on bad brakes. Some drivers hope for better gas mileage and a longer shelf-life for the Grand Caravan, to rival its competitors.

It was very due for a tune up and the guy wasnt willing to wiggle with the price I ended up finding a 2008 caravan for 2000 flat I payed for tune up and got it registered and still payed less for the price they wanted Feb 26, 2020

The stow and go cargo convertibility is an awesome feature that I will miss if I ever sold this van. Music system combines CD with Cassette and AM FM radio.
Requires minimal maintenance to deliver best performance.
This is probably the least troublesome vehicle I have ever owned.
Outside temperature indicator and Cardinal points indicator are a great help when travelling, as are the cruise control, steering-mounted stereo controls.Feb 17, 2015

I've had the car for 18 months and other than oil changes, brakes and tires, I haven't done a lot of extra maintenance. May need some major work ay 137k miles, but that's to be expected. Stow & go is very helpful, and we added a power converter, after-market head unit, back-up camera and an Xbox so it's definitely entertaining.Jul 31, 2014

Can't resell this thing for anything near what they are actually worth. Car dealers scoff and laugh when you ask for real pricing on this vehicle. Book sale value is up to 7000 for it, but still says my trade in is only 3k. Otherwise see above for pro/con list...May 27, 2014

Great space and ride for a family. I love my van but it definitely has some quarks that I could live without. The windows in this car hate me. They won't stay working. The rear seats are difficult at times to get lined up and latched. There is enough space to get between the front seats and all the way to the back of the van without getting out which is nice when you have young children. Engine and transmission have held up extremely well.May 21, 2014

Lots of electrical issues with the vehicle, like power surges (pulsating lighting), Bad wire harnesses for power doors, bad power door motors, bad power window motors, bad breaking wiring all together. It gets great gas mileage though and has great handling and feels very safe and comfortable. The sunroof is a great option to have also, let me tell you. Dual power heated seats is amazing. The van warms up quickly in the winter and cools off quickly in the summer. The engine is fantastically made and well designed for long term use. Stow and go seats are easy to use and come in handy at least once a week. chrysler/dodge have a great design with these, but should have paid more attention to detail in wiring and accessory durability and longevity.Mar 22, 2014

I love the transformation from cargo to family carrier. The van is nice looking and fun to drive. Long trips are nice. Cruises at 75 beautifully. It's quiet and has a great sound system. I would refer this van to a friend.Nov 15, 2012

This one will be broken into categories.
Performance: The 3.8 liter V6 produces good power considering how heavy the car is. The brakes also work great, and stop it quite quickly. Handling is a negative, it is a minivan after all.
Quality: Since it was bought back when it was new, it hasn't broken down on us once. It currently has 135,000 miles, and will keep going for a long time.
Appearance: Once again, it's a minivan, not a sports car. If you want to look good while driving, buy something else.
Cost: You can pick one of these up for about $6,000, which is good for the money. Fuel economy is pretty good, considering that it is a heavy van, don't expect 40 mpg, but mid 20s are easy to achieve. If you put forward the money for regular maintenance, you don't have to worry about repair cost for a long time.
Fun Factor: Minivan = Not fun. You buy one of these for utility reasons, not for fun.Jul 14, 2012

Bought as a rebuilt unit with 20K on it .Put on over 60,000 miles with very few issues.
If you have more that 2 kids this is hard to beat. The 3.3 is underpowered for all stow and go vans. spend the extra and get the 3.8l The gas milage is as good or better with the 3.8
My best on a 800 mile round trip was 30mpg (oversize tires at 45psi ) max of 65 mph drafting semis at 2 thousand counts

We bought this car used in July of 2011 with 47K miles on it. In the 6 months that we owned it, we had to put over $1600 into it: water pump, intake gasket, front brake rotors, tires, O2 sensor, ABS sensor. It was one thing after another. It is so disappointing to see an American car this far behind its foreign competitors. The interior features are very good, but under the hood, it's a different story. I think the overall quality is average, being used to performance vehicles this doesn't quite do it for me. The gas mileage is pretty good given it's size, sadly I don't find it much fun to drive and would not have bought it if not for our growing family.Apr 28, 2010

This is our third Grand Caravan, so we must be moderately satisfied. The others were a 1990 and a 1997. It might be closer to the truth to say that we were not attracted to the vans built by GM and Ford, and the Honda and Toyota are too expensive.Mar 31, 2008
