the drivers side heat and defrost is blowing cool air when the passenger side and rear vents are heating air normally please help

No big changes were introduced for the 2005 Ford Freestar. Available as both a cargo van and a passenger van, the Freestar was still suffering from something of an identity crisis in the family-transportation market, which was still dominated by SUVs. Even within the minivan market segment, the Freestar had a hard time taking market share away from the popular Honda Odyssey and other better-established models.
It certainly wasn't for any want of comfort or innovation in the '05 Freestar itself. The Freestar incorporated Ford's latest engineering: its safety features, handling, response, and fuel efficiency were all competitive or superior with the other minivans and crossovers on the market. Drivers and reviewers praised the Freestar for its quiet ride, comfortable seating, and fun touches like the third row 'Tailgate Bench Seat', which (in addition to folding flat) can be faced out for tailgate picnics and the like.
The 2005 Freestar was offered in five trims: S, SE, SES, and the more luxurious Limited edition (which featured touches like leather upholstery, power sliding doors, and power heated mirrors). The Freestar sits 7 comfortably; with passenger seats removed, it hauls 138 cubic feet of cargo. Fuel economy is a perfectly respectable 17 mpg city, 23 mpg highway; not too bad for such a roomy ride!

The steering, braking, and 4.2L engine work to give to give this van a solid feel and good handling. The front seats are firm, but comfortable, even for long trips...rear seats however are a little low and leave taller people feeling a little close to their knees. The fold-flat rear seat is great when you need cargo space, and when it's up, you have a nice, deep, trunk area to keep your groceries from sliding all over. The interior looks nice, but is pretty "no frills". You won't find a lot of bells and whistles, but all the basics are covered...power windows, locks, mirrors, CD, steering wheel controls for cruise and stereo. We were a little disappointed to not have an aux input to listen to our iPod on long trips, otherwise the stereo is good. Speaking of long trips, it is a little noisy at highway speeds (not enough to interfere with conversations, but noticeable), but the gas mileage is good (27mpg on one trip we took!). Easy to drive, easy to maintain, good solid minivan.May 02, 2013

I bought this vehicle replacing a full size van. I thought a mini-van would get better milage without compromising the convenience of a full size van. Towing--rated at 3500#, it does OK. Fuel Economy-I'm observing 20mph on freeway at 60-65mph--it should be doing better. Around town? Fuel Economy is 14-15--my full size van did this well.
In the end, the mini-van was just too much of a compromise, it isn't a truck frame/suspension, etc...Feb 21, 2012

It's a van - what more can you say - it starts - it runs, the windows go up and down and as all minivans are - it's a chick magnet. everyone should one 3 or four. it sucks in the snow, the astro was way better in the snow and it was rear wheel drive.

Well, its a Freestar - minivan. There is lots of room, the seats are a breeze to work. I have almost 150k on it now and have spent less than a thousand on it in repair - besides usual maintance, tires, brakes, oil etc the only thing really broke was a/c and that could have been a result of the deer hit. It gets great mileage, still gettin 26 on the hwy. Does great on gavel and snow. Jul 03, 2008

We have enjoyed travelling in this minivan, buat it does have a lot of wind noise. Also, it seems to be common that the BACK brakes wear out within 20,000 miles -- be sure to check before warranty runs out. Also, we had to replace tires at 25,000 miles.Jun 29, 2007
