2003 Caravan, surging and popping??
I have changed plugs, cleaned throttle body, checked all vacuum hoses, cleaned MAP sensor...engine not idling, surging and popping while keeping it running...need some input...thank you

The 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan didn't change its MO much, as it seemd to be doing everything right. The same trims and engine options were offered, with the reappareance of the Cargo Van (C/V) this year. The 3.3-liter, 180-hp V6 came standard on the SE, eL, Sport, and Cargo Van, while the 3.8-liter, 215-hp V6 was standard on the eX and ES.
New for 2003 is a power sunroof option for the ES only, and standard power liftgate on the eX and ES, a feature highly valued by appreciative moms everywhere. The AutoStick transmission is discontinued in 2003. Grand Caravans also offer optional three-zone temperature control to accommodate the three rows of passenger seating.
There is no end to the praise for the 2003 Grand Caravan. From its wide variety of engine and trim options, to the smooth, quiet ride and car-like driving experience, to the cargo space and energetic engine, this minivan remains popular among owners. Drivers love the interior comfort and high seating. Some downsides are the heavy-to-remove third-row seating, wide turn radius, and maneuverability of the long Grand Caravans. One thing Dodge seems to have addressed is the transmission problems, as complaints of this in the 2003 Grand Caravan are not as abundant as in other years.

Es espaciosa pero es util para familias numerosas. Overall I would say I have been very pleased with this Grand Caravan. It has served our family well. As the minivan has aged past 100k miles its need for various repairs has increased, but not out of character for its family.
The van rides well, though at 6'4", I feel I am pushing the size limit as driver. As a front seat passenger I was always comfortable.
Three Radian Sunshine Kids (now Diono) car seats will fit securely across the back row.Aug 24, 2014

Dependable car, but the A/C goes at 100,000 miles like clock work. Have had 3 caravans all with the same problem. The fan speed control also burns out about this time. If you find a used one with these problems repaired on a 3.3 liter you should have a good ride that will go for 200,000 + miles.May 13, 2014

As long as you keep up with good maintenance this van will go far. I currently have over 170k miles on it and it is still trucking. Never any major part failures. Just the normal stuff(i.e brakes, battery, and oil).Feb 10, 2013

Pros and cons above pretty well sum it up. This is the 4th Chrysler minivan we've owned over the past 24 years, and it's been a good one. The kids are grown now, and we no longer need a vehicle this big.May 11, 2012

It is a shame Chrysler/Dodge stopped making an AWD van in 2004 or 2005, but since that is what I needed I ended up buying two used 2003's and they have both been great! I wish more vehicles were available with adjustable pedals! I have trouble finding any other vehicle that allows me to reach the pedals comfortably.Jul 17, 2011

no dislikes on car. good quality vehicle to drive around in. good performance vehicle no bad problems. 18 miles per gallon of gas 25 dollars to mainten car. this car is fun to drive the vehicle around espicially on road trips

Great performance,plenty of power.No repairs or rattles,very quiet.The almond metallic paint is great--doesnt show the dirt.Really like the power sliding door & lift back for shopping.Computer shows avg. mileage to be 21 MPG !Inexpensive maintenance.Most reliable car I have ever owned.Mar 05, 2011

it is what it is.....a minivan. I haul my people around and can even fit a small tree in the back. This make is known to have steering issues around 60k but otherwise a pretty good van. Loads bigger than the regular caravan. May 06, 2010

It sucks in everything except for transporting kids to soccer or friends to a party. Okay in gas mileage but wouldn't take to long trips. It has very little power and not much styling on the inside. If you are going to buy a Dodge caravan buy the 2009 model.Nov 06, 2009

The brakes on are really nice, it is a easy stop and go, the handling is awesome, it isn't too pricey or to cheap either. It is a really fun car to drive, I love that it has two sliding doors, so the kids don't have to climb over each other getting in or out. I was skeptical about owing a VAN....let's face it, i'm not in the Family mode where i have to transport 8 kids on a daily basis! But after taking these wheels for a test spin....all i can say is WOW!! I'm impressed! Does it ever drive NICE!! And LOTS of power thanks to the 6 banger under the hood. I'm used to my little 4 banger....WHAT a difference!! Getting that "pushed towards the back seat" feeling when u step on the gas.....brings back memories of the old days when I bombed around in high power V-8's!! i JUST LOVE IT!!!May 27, 2009

My stepfather's current van, modified for wheelchair use. It's comfortable, fun to drive, and feature-rich. My only quibble is that the center of gravity is high enough that my stepfather can sway a bit when we go around corners at any speed. This is especially vexing when you're getting onto a highway at a parclo. The van is also made for rear-entry, and the raised back end makes reversing a chore.May 19, 2009

Good on the highway for her size. 11.8 KPG.
(That's when i'm doing 110 KM/Hr).
She seats 7 people, and has lots of room in the trunk with all the seats in.
All seats are removeable except for the driver seat and
front seat next to driver.
Has Air and Rear Climate Control.
Passengers can adjust their own temp'. I can have cool air blowing on me while the person next to me can have warm at the same time.Mar 30, 2009

Great family car! Kids love it, because of the bucket seats. It has four doors, however the kids still climb though from one side or the other. Has a roof rack, my husband won't let me ride on it thought. Said something about it not be legal. It just looks like lots of fun!!!Aug 18, 2008

This is my third Grand Caravan. I loved the first two, which I got used. This was my very first new car. Unlike the other two, this one gets terrible gas mileage, has had more mechanical trouble, is more cramped, and it's harder to see out the back. It's also harder to handle on curvy roads and doesn't accelerate well. I won't buy another one. But it is VERY, VERY RED! And the leather seats are comfy, the dash is set up well, and I love the stereo controls on the back of the steering wheel.Aug 17, 2008

The base engine is lacking in power compared to equivalent Japanese products. The Grand Caravan has plenty of space for a family of 4 or 5 with extra room for cargo or friends.Jan 14, 2008
