How much does the Honda CR-V cost in today's market?

Used Honda CR-V prices span a wide range depending on model year. Here's what the market looks like right now:

The Honda CR-V's current nationwide average price is $21,950, and its nationwide average price reached a low of $19,865 over the past year. Recently, prices have come down for the 2024, 2025, and 2026 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Is the Honda CR-V a good car?

Yes — the Honda CR-V is a strong used SUV choice if you want a roomy, practical crossover with broad owner appeal. The all-generations owner rating is 4.6/5 across every model year in the data.

Owners consistently praise the CR-V for its reliability, spacious interior, and excellent fuel economy. They also frequently highlight its safety features and advanced technology, along with a comfortable ride and strong everyday usability.

Expert reviews rate the 2017 and 2015 models among the highest across all years.

The main trade-offs that show up in recent expert reviews are modest power under hard acceleration, road noise in some versions, and pricing that can feel high for what certain trims include.

35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Are Honda CR-V models reliable?

Owners consistently praise the CR-V for its reliability, spacious cabin, and strong fuel economy. Expert reviews also reinforce its reputation for comfort, practicality, and long-term usefulness.

• Owners rate the Honda CR-V between 3.8 and 5 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For used buyers, the long-term ownership picture is generally favorable, especially if you choose a well-kept example with a clean history and a strong maintenance record.

What should I look for when buying a used Honda CR-V?

Across all model years, at 72.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2022 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: The 2023 CR-V EX and EX-L get the same turbocharged 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which carries over from the previous-generation CR-V. It generates 190 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 179 pound-feet of torque between 1,700 rpm and 5,000 rpm, which is plenty for a compact SUV.

Which Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2023 Honda CR-V offers these trims:

• EX: The entry trim brings cloth upholstery, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 7-inch digital instrumentation panel.
• EX-L: The best-value trim adds a larger 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, leather-wrapped interior touchpoints, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a power rear liftgate, and front and rear parking sensors.

What Honda CR-V do most buyers choose?

The Honda CR-V years with the most listings are 2025, 2024, and 2023.

Higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more choices, stronger deal coverage, and easier comparison shopping. They also often sit near the sweet spot between newer features and used-car pricing.

What is the Honda CR-V's resale value?

Most model years are down year over year, which is helpful if you want to buy used while prices are easing. The newer years are still moving lower, while a few older years are close to flat or slightly higher, showing that the CR-V continues to hold demand across the lineup.

The 2015, 2016, and 2026 model years are holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.

The 2014, 2015, and 2016 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

For the safest used buy, the 2017 and 2021 models both post the highest confirmed score of 10/10.

Should I buy a used Honda CR-V now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2026 model is at −0.38% versus a year ago, and the 2025 model is at −3.82%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 40.8% good and great deals.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2025 model has the most listings at a current average price of $31,133. The Honda CR-V offers a roomy cabin and easy everyday usability that make it a strong all-around family SUV.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: For the 2023 model year, the CR-V EX and EX-L get the same turbocharged 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which carries over from the previous-generation CR-V. It generates 190 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 179 pound-feet of torque between 1,700 rpm and 5,000 rpm, which is plenty for a compact SUV.
• Tech: Choose the CR-V EX-L, and Honda adds a larger 9-inch touchscreen display and an expanded list of features. Highlights include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, wireless charging, and an upgraded eight-speaker sound system.
• Safety: Honda bundles the tech under the Honda Sensing umbrella, and it includes the collision warning and avoidance features you’ve come to expect as standard equipment. In other words, you get adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights.
• Starting price: At the beginning of the model year, prices start at $31,110 for a CR-V EX with front-wheel drive (FWD) and rise to $35,260 for a CR-V EX-L with all-wheel drive (AWD).

If you're buying used today, the 2025 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
