Dodge Viper Overview
Since its concept inception in 1989 and its subsequent market release in 1992, the Dodge Viper has established itself as one of the dominant muscle cars of the world. When it started in 1992, the Dodge Viper, then only available as the RT/10 Roadster, had an 8.0-liter V10 under the hood that produced a staggering 400 hp. But Dodge owners were never content with only 400 hp. And Dodge heeded their call, upping the horsepower to 415, then 450, then 500 from an 8.3-liter V10 in 2003, and finally 510 in the 2006.
The Dodge Viper has been the King of the Road for its entire history. Heads turn to stare in wonder, and arrogant engines rev, thinking that they are up to the challenge. Almost invariably, they are wrong. The Dodge Viper started with a 0-60 mph in the low 4 seconds, and only got faster. There is something primal about sitting behind the wheel of a Dodge Viper, either with the top down or a roof over your head, feeling the vibrations of one of the more powerful production engines on the planet in your fingertips.
Few comforts adorn the inside of any Viper; in early models, there are practically none. But owners have never complained much about this lack of comfort. They've always understood why they bought the car, and it was not to recline in. The Viper has always been about power and speed. Anything else was just a minor bonus.
Despite their enormous success with the Dodge Viper over the years, Dodge has never been satisfied, and is always finding ways to bring more power to Viper enthusiasts. Vipers have always been a limited production car, so if you manage to join the elite group of owners, count yourself among the lucky few. The Dodge Viper is not a car for the meek or inexperienced driver, nor for the shy. But if you think you can tame the beast, there are few cars out there that can provide a more satisfying ride.

Overall, Dodge Viper owners are passionate about their cars, celebrating the extraordinary power, thrilling performance, and eye-catching design that make driving a Viper an exhilarating experience. The raw acceleration and handling are often praised, and many drivers enjoy the attention their Vipers receive on the road. However, critiques are common regarding the high cost of ownership, fuel economy, and some interior quality issues. Additionally, a few owners point out challenges with handling, particularly for less experienced drivers, making it clear that while the Viper is an adrenaline-pumping supercar, it isn't for everyone.

I've owned six vipers now and God willing will never be without one! This one has a fully built custom motor w/a paxton supercharger making just over 1,000hp! It's unbelievable to drive! I've been looking to build a car like this for years and finally found this one. Love it!
I just bought this car used last week with only 16,000 miles and have to say it's more than I ever hoped for. Everyone knows about the horsepower and torque, but the car is unbelievably comfortable to drive! I've driven it here in Dallas during 100+ days and have no issues with heat in the cabin. While the ride is stiff, it won't rattle your teeth loose and the looks are to die for. Men, women, kids... all love the car, give me thumbs up and want to ride in it. The only downside is every kid in a mustang or camaro wants to race. All I need to do is step on the gas and watch them disappear. **** 1 YEAR UPDATE **** I've now owned this car for one year. I still have no regrets. The Viper is reliable, comfortable, and still an awesome car to drive. I've driven it from DFW to Little Rock, AR and was comfortable the whole way. I've tracked it and can say it has greater capabilities than I do. I'm actually looking to buy another one shortly.
This is my 99 Dodge Viper GTS. I bought it less than a year ago and it really is in near mint condition with only 18k miles on it. I also have a first generation Viper that ,while tons of fun ,isn't as refined as this 99. This one has power windows ,a nice stereo etc...while the older RT/10 is really just a super powerful hi-torqe monster. I don't know which is fastest but both are to be respected while driving. All in all a super fun and dependable, well built American Super car.
What a great drivers car and experience, as long as you have a shoe size smaller than a 10, are less than 6 feet tall and less than 200lbs. If any of the above applies to you, then you will never get the full experience of this great American muscle car.
Personally, I am too large for this excellent running vehicle.A true street machine.
