1998 Dodge Viper 2 Dr GTS Coupe Review
by Tanner285

Dodge Viper Review

Performance: acceleration in the higher rpm range is extremely noticeable. Car seems to really take off in the lower gears and breaks the stock Pilot Sport's loose at all chances. Build Quality: car is built like a rock. Only downside is that the clutch pedal is very soft until you reach the friction point. Appearance: what more can you ask for?...

Avg. Dealer Rating: (14 reviews) "The dealer advertised financing options available even on older vehicles that banks normally do not cover. I emailed asking for details about how much could be financed or what kind of down payment I might need for a 1990 truck for 8k. I even told them my credit score. The dealer responded by email in about 2 hours. They told me to apply for credit so they could run my credit then let me talk to a credit union. Here is why that seems unreasonable to me: If the FCU will only finance 50% of the value of the vehicle, since it is a 1990, then there is no point in them running my credit which will waste their time and hurt my score since I don't have 4k to put down. If they would finance 75 or 80% of the vehicle then I would let them run my credit. It seems to me like a dealer should know what percentage of older vehicles can be financed, or maybe tell me how much some people in the past were able to finance... or at least what credit union they use so I could ask them... I may consider shopping there again, but only with cash or if I line up my own financing in advance."

First, as noted, they did not even bother responding to my inquiry. Second, and much more egregious, after waiting several days to be contacted by this dealer, I called them. My experience with them was by far the worst I have ever encountered with any business. I am in NH, and looking for a good rust-free southern Astro AWD van, so I need to get good full info about the vehicle before I travel all the way to VA or NC to look at it. So I need to ask a lot of questions on the phone. The person who answered the phone (someone with a thick foreign accent - Paki or Indian, probably) was incredibly rude. I told him I had a few questions about the van. He launched into a tirade about people wasting his time with questions and something about potential buyers having to "go home and ask their wife, uncle, grandmother, and dog". I asked him about the condition of the van, and he said something I didn't understand, then HUNG UP ON ME. I called back and a different person, someone with a slight accent, answered the phone. I complained about the poor treatment from the previous person. He claimed that they had about 20 people working there, and thus it would not be possible to determine who had been so rude. I asked to speak to the owner, and was told he was "in a meeting". I asked for the owner's name, and was told it was "Bob". He wouldn't give a last name. I asked him to have the owner call me. Of course, no one ever called. I asked this person a few questions about the van, and he did answer them, but he wasn't particularly interested in being helpful or answering questions. These people are the rudest, most foul I have ever encountered. The previous review for this dealer said they were very rude to that person, too, and not interested in answering any questions about their vehicles. AVOID THIS DEALER LIKE THE PLAGUE!"
