Used 2024 Volvo XC90 for Sale nearSaint Paul, MN

How much does the 2024 Volvo XC90 cost?

Prices have softened 7.31% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,606 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2024 Volvo XC90 a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Volvo XC90 earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

The XC90’s appeal starts with its design: it is described as timeless, beautiful inside and out, and still competitive on style even after nearly a decade on sale. It also offers a range of powertrains, including a plug-in hybrid, which gives you an electrified option in a luxury three-row SUV. The trade-offs are that it is showing its age in several ways, its Pilot Assist behavior is a concern, and its value proposition is questioned by its steep price.

For you, that means the XC90 makes the most sense if you want a stylish, comfort-focused luxury SUV with strong safety credentials and a family-friendly layout. If you prioritize the newest tech polish or the sharpest value, you may want to compare alternatives carefully.

36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2024 Volvo XC90 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The XC90’s case for durability is helped by its reputation for safety, comfort, and a design that has aged well rather than feeling obsolete. Its powertrain lineup also includes a plug-in hybrid option, and the performance notes point to a capable setup with strong output and usable electric-only driving for short trips. Volvo also frames the XC90 as a vehicle that can handle everyday family use efficiently when kept charged.

On the cost side, the plug-in hybrid version is positioned as a premium choice, so long-term ownership costs can be harder to justify if you do not regularly use the electric range. For used buyers, the main risk is that age-related wear and higher running costs may matter more than the XC90’s strong reputation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Volvo XC90?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or a more heavily optioned trim. Focus on overall condition, because this model’s age and premium features make maintenance history and wear more important than headline styling alone.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XC90 is sold in Core, Plus, and Ultimate trim levels. The base setup still gives you the model’s core luxury-SUV appeal, but higher trims add richer materials and more upscale equipment, including features like massaging front seats, a premium headliner, and a high-end audio system on the test vehicle.
• Powertrain: You can choose from B5, B6, and Recharge T8 versions. The B5 uses a turbocharged mild-hybrid four-cylinder, the B6 adds a supercharger for extra performance, and the Recharge T8 plug-in hybrid delivers the most power and the greatest efficiency, along with 32 miles of estimated electric-only range.
• Safety package: Volvo’s Pilot Assist pairs adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist, and the XC90 also includes large-animal detection, a notification system for moving traffic, and standard front and rear parking sensors. The system is not hands-free, and the test drive noted some troubling behavior from Pilot Assist.
• Infotainment: The XC90 uses a 9-inch touchscreen with Google Built-in, Google Maps, Google Play, and Google Assistant. Apple CarPlay is standard, and the system includes over-the-air-connected features for four years before subscriptions are needed.
• Fuel efficiency: The Recharge T8 is estimated to average 27 mpg in combined driving as a hybrid and offers 32 miles of electric-only range.

Which 2024 Volvo XC90 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Volvo XC90 is offered in 3 trim levels: Core, Plus, Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• Core: This is the entry point if you want the XC90’s style, safety, and standard AWD without stretching too far on price. It gives you the essentials, but it is the trim where you are most likely to feel the gap versus the richer upper trims.
• Plus: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds meaningful comfort and convenience without pushing all the way to the top of the range. If you want the sweet spot between equipment and cost, this is the one to target.
• Ultimate: Choose this if you want the most upscale XC90 experience, especially if you care about premium cabin materials and luxury touches. The test vehicle’s Ultimate trim showed how far the XC90 can go with features like massaging front seats, a premium headliner, and a high-end audio system.

Volvo’s safety content highlights Pilot Assist and its related driver-assistance features, but it also notes that the system is not hands-free.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Volvo XC90?

This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you have room to shop carefully and still find a worthwhile deal.

• Deal availability: 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,606 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.31% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 92.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $44,742, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Volvo XC90's resale value?

The current average of $44,956 sits slightly below last year's $48,499.

That decline suggests the XC90 has become more approachable for used buyers, which can help support demand if you decide to sell later. A softer market today can also mean your purchase price is more favorable than it was a year ago, but it may limit short-term appreciation.

For a future seller, the key is that the XC90 still has strong style, strong safety credentials, and broad appeal as a luxury three-row SUV. Those traits help keep it relevant, even as age and competition put pressure on pricing.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Volvo XC90 safe?

The Volvo XC90 earns five-star ratings in every NHTSA assessment except rollover resistance, where it earns a four-star rating. It was also named a Top Safety Pick+ by IIHS in 2023.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Volvo equips the XC90 with Pilot Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control and lane-centering assist, plus large-animal detection, a traffic-movement alert, and standard front and rear parking sensors. The system is useful, but it is not especially innovative for the model year, and the test drive noted that Pilot Assist can struggle with curves, lane markings, and certain exit-ramp situations.

That means you get a strong safety foundation, but you should still evaluate the driver-assistance behavior carefully during your own test drive. If advanced semi-autonomous capability is a priority, this is an area where the XC90 may leave you wanting more.

Should I buy a 2024 Volvo XC90 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.31% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It remains appealing for its design, powertrain range, and strong safety reputation.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $38,241, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $44,956 average.
• It introduced the B5 and B6 mild-hybrid powertrains and modern Google-based infotainment.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $51,270, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $44,956 average.
• It gets a substantial refresh with updated styling, materials, features, and ride improvements.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, availability, and the XC90’s core strengths, the 2024 is the sensible pick. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2023 is the value play. If you want the most updated version and are willing to pay more, the 2025 is the better long-term choice.
