Used 2024 BMW X5 for Sale nearSaint Paul, MN

How much does the 2024 BMW X5 cost?

Prices have softened 9.30% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,329 listings available, which suggests you have meaningful inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 a good car?

Yes — the 2024 BMW X5 earns a 4.83/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its smooth hybrid performance, impressive technology, and comfort. They also highlight hands-free driving and electric range as especially appealing features. In use-case terms, that makes it a strong fit if you want a luxury midsize SUV that can feel efficient in daily driving without giving up the engaging character you expect from BMW.

The trade-offs are that it does not feel dramatically different from the previous model and the color choices leave some buyers wanting more. Market-wise, 38.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in everyday use, with praise centered on smooth hybrid operation and technology that owners enjoy living with over time. The expert evaluation also reinforces that impression by describing the X5 as a delight to drive while noting that the plug-in hybrid setup delivers meaningful electric-only range.

BMW also includes complimentary scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that this is still a premium SUV with premium repair and upkeep exposure once factory coverage ends.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 BMW X5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on higher-spec examples with more equipment. Focus on condition details that matter in a luxury SUV: wheel and tire wear, interior wear, and whether the technology and driver-assistance features operate as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The X5’s six-cylinder and plug-in hybrid models can be had with Sport or M Sport trim packages, and the M Sport treatment changes the look enough that it may matter to you if you prefer a more traditional SUV appearance. The base setup also leaves room for equipment-package upgrades, so you should verify which options are actually on the vehicle you’re considering.
• Powertrain: The X5 is available with a turbocharged inline six-cylinder, a turbo-six plug-in hybrid, a turbocharged V8, and a higher-output turbo V8 in the X5 M Competition. The plug-in hybrid is the standout for buyers who want strong acceleration and meaningful electric-only driving range.
• Safety package: BMW’s Highway Assistant hands-free driving assistance system is available for 2024, but you must deliberately activate it and select Assisted Driving Plus cruise control mode. The system works best in slower traffic or light traffic, and the content notes that advanced safety features are not standard.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel paired with a 14.9-inch touchscreen running BMW Operating System 8.5. Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, over-the-air software updates, and cloud-based navigation are included.
• Fuel efficiency: The plug-in hybrid is rated at 22 mpg in combined driving once the gasoline engine is running, and BMW says it can travel 38 miles on electricity alone. In testing, it also returned 38.8 mpg on a mixed route.

Which 2024 BMW X5 trim should I buy?

The 2024 BMW X5 is offered in 6 trim levels: sDrive40i, xDrive40i, xDrive50e, M60i, X5 M Competition, and M Sport.

Here's the short version:

• sDrive40i: This is the entry point if you want the X5 experience at the lowest starting point. It gives you the core luxury-SUV formula, but you should check the equipment list carefully because BMW leans heavily on packages and options.
• xDrive40i: This is the better all-around choice for many shoppers because it adds BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system while keeping the six-cylinder setup. If you want the most balanced mainstream version, this is the one to focus on.
• xDrive50e: This is the best-value pick if you want the most compelling mix of performance and efficiency. The plug-in hybrid setup is the expert favorite, and it delivers strong power plus about 38 miles of electric-only driving.
• M60i: Choose this if you want the V8 experience and are willing to pay for it. It adds more power, but the content makes clear that it comes at a significant price premium.
• X5 M Competition: This is the top performance choice for buyers who want maximum output and the most aggressive driving character. It sits at the extreme end of the lineup rather than the value end.
• M Sport: This is best if appearance matters to you and you want a sportier look, but the content suggests it is more about styling than a major mechanical upgrade.

BMW’s Highway Assistant is available, but advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup, so verify the exact equipment on any used example.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 BMW X5?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully but not so much that the best listings should linger.

• Deal availability: 38.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,329 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.30% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $51,136, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 BMW X5's resale value?

The current average of $51,136 sits slightly below last year's $56,377.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper near-term resale expectations if you plan to sell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that the X5 is not in a rising-price phase right now, so condition, mileage, and equipment will matter more when it comes time to list it.

Even so, the model’s strong owner satisfaction and premium positioning help support demand. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should remain easier to move than less desirable trims or neglected vehicles.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 safe?

The 2024 X5 earns an overall four-star rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

BMW’s Highway Assistant hands-free driving assistance system is available for 2024, and it works with Assisted Driving Plus cruise control mode. The system can perform well in dense traffic and light traffic, and the content notes that it operates subtly enough that you may be more likely to leave it on.

There are caveats, though. The expert evaluation says the system can brake abruptly in some situations, and BMW’s lower headlight ratings kept the X5 from earning an IIHS safety award for this model year. Advanced safety features are also not standard, so you should verify the exact driver-assistance equipment on any used example.

Should I buy a 2024 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 38.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 update adds BMW Curved Display and Highway Assistant, making it the more modern and better-equipped choice.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $57,849, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $51,136 average.
• It adds a limited-edition 25th anniversary model.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2024 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you care more about getting the newest version and are willing to pay more, the 2025 is the cleaner path.
