Used 2024 Volvo XC90 for Sale nearMinneapolis, MN

How much does the 2024 Volvo XC90 cost?

Prices have softened 6.38% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,677 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable selection to compare.

Is the 2024 Volvo XC90 a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Volvo XC90 earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

The XC90’s appeal starts with its design, which is described as timeless and beautiful inside and out. It also offers a range of powertrains, including a plug-in hybrid variant, and it is positioned as a comfortable, family-oriented luxury SUV with strong safety credentials.

The trade-offs are that it shows its age in several ways and its value proposition is questioned by its steep price tag. Pilot Assist behavior is also a concern.

With 37.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Volvo XC90 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The XC90 is presented as a vehicle that has aged well overall, with a design and cabin that still hold up after nearly a decade on sale. Its powertrains and technology are described as part of Volvo’s broader move toward a more electrified future, which supports the impression of a thoughtfully engineered SUV.

The performance notes also point to a powertrain that feels lively and capable in everyday use, especially when charged and driven in hybrid mode. On the cost side, the plug-in hybrid’s higher purchase price means it can take years to offset operating costs, which matters if you plan to keep the vehicle long term.

For used buyers, the main ownership risk is that aging hardware and increasingly dated driver-assistance behavior may become more noticeable over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Volvo XC90?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or a more heavily optioned trim. Focus on overall condition, because the XC90’s appeal depends heavily on how well the interior, technology, and ride quality have been preserved.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XC90 is offered in Core, Plus, and Ultimate trim levels. The cabin is described as dated but rich in materials, and Ultimate trim adds features such as massaging front seats, a premium headliner, an active air suspension, and a high-end audio system. If you want the most complete luxury experience, the upper trims are the ones to target.
• Powertrain: The B5 uses a turbocharged mild-hybrid four-cylinder engine, while the B6 adds a supercharger for extra performance. The Recharge T8 plug-in hybrid adds an electric motor and battery for the most performance, the greatest efficiency, and 32 miles of estimated electric-only range.
• Safety package: Pilot Assist pairs adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist. The XC90 also includes large-animal detection and a notification system that alerts a distracted driver when traffic ahead starts moving again. Volvo does not offer a hands-free driving assistance system in this SUV, and Pilot Assist behavior is a concern.
• Infotainment: The dashboard centers on a 9-inch touchscreen with Google Built-in, Google Maps, Google Play, and Google Assistant. Apple CarPlay is standard, and Volvo provides these Google features at no cost for four years before subscription payments are required.
• Fuel efficiency: The Recharge T8 is rated at 27 mpg in combined driving as a hybrid and offers 32 miles of electric-only range.

Which 2024 Volvo XC90 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Volvo XC90 is offered in 3 trim levels: Core, Plus, Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• Core: This is the entry point if you want the XC90’s design, standard AWD, and core luxury-SUV appeal without stretching to the pricier trims. It makes the most sense if you care more about the XC90’s style and safety reputation than about extra comfort features.
• Plus: This is the trim to focus on if you want a better balance of equipment and value. It should give you more of the XC90 experience without pushing as far into the expensive upper end of the lineup.
• Ultimate: This is the most luxurious choice, and it is the right pick if you want the richest cabin and the most upscale features. The test vehicle’s Ultimate trim included massaging front seats, a premium headliner, an active air suspension, and a high-end Bowers & Wilkins audio system.

The safety content notes that the XC90’s ADAS is not especially innovative, and Pilot Assist is the main driver-assistance system to evaluate carefully.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Volvo XC90?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,677 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.38% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 92.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $44,712, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Volvo XC90's resale value?

The current average of $44,712 sits slightly below last year's $47,762.

That softer pricing suggests the XC90 has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be starting from a more favorable entry point than a year ago.

The model’s strong design appeal and solid safety reputation should help support demand over time. Still, its age and premium pricing pressure mean resale performance will depend heavily on trim, condition, and mileage.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Volvo XC90 safe?

The 2024 Volvo XC90 earns five-star ratings in every NHTSA assessment except rollover resistance, where it earns a four-star rating. It was also named a Top Safety Pick+ by IIHS in 2023.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Volvo equips the XC90 with Pilot Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control and lane-centering assist. The SUV also includes large-animal detection and a system that alerts you when traffic ahead starts moving again.

The caveat is that the XC90’s advanced driver-assistance tech is not especially innovative for 2024, and Pilot Assist struggled in several real-world situations. That makes it important to test the system carefully if you plan to rely on it often.

Should I buy a 2024 Volvo XC90 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.38% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It remains appealing for its timeless design, available plug-in hybrid powertrain, and strong safety reputation.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $37,687, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $44,712 average.
• It offers stylish design and modern infotainment with updated mild-hybrid powertrains.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $50,855, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $44,712 average.
• It brings updated styling, materials, feature offerings, and mechanical tweaks for a more polished feel.

The bottom line: If you want the XC90’s core strengths at a softer price, the 2024 is the sensible target. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2023 is worth a look; if you want the freshest version and can spend more, the 2025 is the upgrade path.
