Used 2024 Volvo XC90 for Sale near Maryland

How much does the 2024 Volvo XC90 cost?

Prices have softened 5.91% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,584 listings available, which suggests solid inventory availability.

Is the 2024 Volvo XC90 a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Volvo XC90 earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

It stands out as a timeless-looking luxury SUV that helped define Volvo’s modern design direction, and it still feels central to the brand’s identity. The XC90 also appeals because it balances style with comfort and includes a plug-in hybrid option, giving you a broader range of powertrains than many rivals.

The trade-offs are clear: it carries over without changes, shows its age in several ways, and its safety tech is less innovative than some competitors. The expert notes also point to questionable value for money, so this is best if you prioritize design, comfort, and Volvo’s safety reputation over the latest tech or bargain pricing.

37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Volvo XC90 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The XC90’s reputation is built around safety, quality, and a design that has aged well rather than feeling trendy. The expert evaluation also describes it as a likeable plug-in hybrid SUV with plenty to like in everyday use, especially if you keep it charged and use it for short trips.

Its plug-in hybrid setup can make local driving efficient when you stay on top of charging, and the powertrain is described as lively once the gas engine joins in. Volvo also includes a maintenance perk on the plug-in hybrid side, which helps soften ownership costs early on.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the vehicle’s aging architecture and premium complexity may make upkeep feel less fresh than newer rivals.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Volvo XC90?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a plug-in hybrid. Focus on overall condition, charging behavior if applicable, and whether the cabin and electronics feel well cared for, since this model’s age shows up more in refinement and tech than in its core appeal.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XC90 comes in Core, Plus, and Ultimate trims, and the biggest gaps are in comfort and luxury features. Base versions are more stripped back, while higher trims add richer materials and more upscale equipment.
• Powertrain: You can shop B5, B6, and Recharge T8 versions. The B5 uses a turbocharged mild-hybrid four-cylinder, the B6 adds a supercharger for more performance, and the Recharge T8 plug-in hybrid delivers the most power and the best efficiency, along with electric-only driving range.
• Safety package: Pilot Assist pairs adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist, and the XC90 also includes large-animal detection and a traffic-movement alert. Volvo does not offer a hands-free driving assistance system here, and the system’s behavior can be inconsistent in some situations.
• Infotainment: The XC90 uses a 9-inch touchscreen with Google Built-in, Google Maps, Google Play, Google Assistant, Apple CarPlay, and standard SiriusXM. It also offers over-the-air-style connected features through Google services for four years before subscription costs apply.
• Fuel efficiency: The Recharge T8 is estimated at 27 mpg in combined driving and offers 32 miles of electric-only range.

Which 2024 Volvo XC90 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Volvo XC90 is offered in 3 trim levels: Core, Plus, Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• Core: This is the entry point if you want the XC90’s design, safety reputation, and standard all-wheel drive without paying for the most luxurious extras. It makes the most sense if you care more about the XC90’s core strengths than top-end comfort features.
• Plus: This is the best-value trim if you want a stronger balance of equipment and price. It should give you the sweet spot between everyday luxury and avoiding the steepest jump to the top trim.
• Ultimate: Choose this if you want the most upscale XC90 experience, including the richest materials and the most premium-feeling cabin presentation. It suits you best if comfort and luxury matter more than value.

Volvo’s safety package centers on Pilot Assist, but it does not include a hands-free driving system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Volvo XC90?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,584 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.91% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 92.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $44,411, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Volvo XC90's resale value?

The current average of $44,411 sits slightly below last year's $47,201.

That price movement suggests the XC90 has softened enough to help you buy more selectively today, but it also means future sellers may face some pressure if the market keeps drifting downward. The model’s premium positioning and aging platform can work against resale momentum, especially if newer rivals continue to offer fresher tech and stronger value.

At the same time, the XC90’s strong design identity and safety reputation help preserve buyer interest. If you maintain it well and keep the cabin and service history in good shape, you should have a better shot at holding value than with a less distinctive luxury SUV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Volvo XC90 safe?

The Volvo XC90 earns five-star ratings in every NHTSA assessment except rollover resistance, where it earns a four-star rating, and the IIHS says it was a Top Safety Pick+ in 2023.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Volvo equips the XC90 with Pilot Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control and lane-centering assist. The SUV also includes large-animal detection and a traffic-movement alert, but it does not offer a hands-free driving assistance system.

The main caveat is that the XC90’s advanced driver-assistance tech is not especially innovative for the class, and the system can behave inconsistently in some real-world situations.

Should I buy a 2024 Volvo XC90 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It remains appealing for its design, comfort, and plug-in hybrid option.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $37,350, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $44,411 average.
• It offers elegant styling and updated mild-hybrid powertrains.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $50,651, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $44,411 average.
• It brings updated styling, materials, and feature improvements.

The bottom line: Buy the 2024 if you want the XC90’s core strengths at a softer price than newer models. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2023 is the better value play; if you want the freshest version, move up to the 2025.
