Used 2024 Subaru Solterra for Sale nearChicago, IL

How much does the 2024 Subaru Solterra cost?

Prices have softened 4.97% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 606 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Subaru Solterra a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Subaru Solterra earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

The 2024 Solterra is positioned as an updated version of Subaru’s first electric car, with changes aimed at making it more credible and more appealing to you as a shopper. Subaru added charging improvements, refreshed standard safety features, and made comfort and convenience upgrades without raising starting prices. It also brings a new steering wheel and available ventilated front seats, which broaden its appeal beyond basic EV ownership.

The trade-offs are clear: its electric range remains limited, its power is underwhelming, and its lane assist system is disappointing. Even so, the combination of stylish design, a comfortable cabin, and strong safety ratings gives it a more well-rounded case than before, especially if you value Subaru’s safety-first approach and everyday usability in an electric SUV.

The market shows 40.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which points to solid shopping opportunities.

Is the 2024 Subaru Solterra reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Solterra is presented as a more credible EV than before because Subaru upgraded charging, added comfort and utility improvements, and refreshed its standard safety content. The expert evaluation also describes the vehicle as structurally sound, with no suspension clunking, thunking, or shuddering making its way into the cabin.

Its performance notes suggest the electric drivetrain is competent for everyday use, but not especially strong, and the range remains limited. Subaru also says charging has improved for 2024, which helps, but the model still depends heavily on how you plan to use it day to day.

If you buy used, long-term ownership risk is tied more to EV range, charging speed, and battery condition than to traditional mechanical complexity.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Subaru Solterra?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you plan to rely on the car for commuting or road trips. Focus on battery condition, charging behavior, tire wear, and whether the driver-assistance systems operate cleanly and consistently. Because this is an EV, it also makes sense to confirm how the car has been charged over time and whether it has been used mostly for home charging or frequent DC fast charging.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes Premium, Limited, and Touring. Premium is the most straightforward choice, while Limited and Touring add more upscale equipment, including the larger touchscreen and premium audio. The base trim is the one most likely to leave you without some of the nicer convenience features.
• Powertrain: Every Solterra uses a dual-motor AWD setup with 215 horsepower and 249 pound-feet of torque. Output is modest, so you should expect smooth everyday driving rather than strong acceleration.
• Safety package: EyeSight is standard, and it includes front cross-traffic alert, proactive driving assist, hands-free driving at low speeds, active lane-change assist, DriverFocus monitoring, intersection collision avoidance, emergency steering assist, emergency stop assist, and a traffic-ahead-moving notification. The system is broad, but lane-centering behavior can be inconsistent.
• Infotainment: Premium gets an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. Limited and Touring upgrade to a 12.3-inch touchscreen, plus wireless charging and an 11-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. Over-the-air capability is not stated.
• Range & charging: Premium is rated at 227 miles of range, while Limited and Touring are rated at 222 miles. The battery is 72.8 kWh, and Subaru says charging performance has improved for 2024, though the model still trails quicker-charging rivals.
• Battery health: Check the battery’s state of health, ask how often it has been DC fast charged, and confirm whether most charging has been done at home. You should also verify how much of the battery warranty remains so you know what protection you still have.

Which 2024 Subaru Solterra trim should I buy?

The 2024 Subaru Solterra is offered in 3 trim levels: Premium, Limited, and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• Premium: This is the value play if you want the Solterra’s core strengths without paying for extras. You still get the dual-motor AWD setup, the standard safety suite, and the 8-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone integration.
• Limited: This is the best-value upgrade if you want the Solterra to feel more modern and premium. The larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, surround-view camera, and Harman Kardon audio make it the most balanced choice for many shoppers.
• Touring: Choose this if you want the most fully equipped Solterra, with the same upgraded tech as Limited plus the highest-end presentation and available comfort features.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim just to get the core driver-assistance content.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru Solterra?

It looks like a buyer’s market, with decent deal availability and strong clean-inventory levels.

• Deal availability: 40.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 606 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.97% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 93.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,704, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru Solterra's resale value?

The current average of $25,732 sits slightly below last year's $27,079.

That price movement suggests the Solterra has softened enough to create a more approachable used-buying window, but it also means future sellers may need to stay realistic on pricing. If you buy at the right number now, you may reduce the risk of taking a bigger hit later. The model’s value will likely depend heavily on how buyers continue to view its range, charging speed, and overall EV practicality.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Subaru Solterra safe?

The 2024 Subaru Solterra earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Subaru’s EyeSight suite is standard, and it includes front cross-traffic alert, proactive driving assist, hands-free low-speed driving, active lane-change assist, DriverFocus monitoring, intersection collision avoidance, emergency steering assist, emergency stop assist, and a notification when traffic ahead starts moving again. That is a broad set of standard driver-assistance features, and it helps explain the Solterra’s strong safety reputation.

The caveat is execution: the lane-centering assist can struggle on curving roads, and the driver-information display can be cluttered and distracting. So while the hardware list is impressive, you should still test the system carefully on your own drive.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Solterra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 40.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.97% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Subaru updated charging, safety features, and comfort equipment for this model year.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $22,667, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $25,732 average.
• It introduced Subaru’s first all-electric model with symmetrical all-wheel drive and a practical, familiar character.

The bottom line: If you want the more refined and better-equipped version, the 2024 is the better pick. If your priority is saving money and you can live with the older setup, the 2023 can still make sense as a lower-cost entry into the Solterra lineup.
