Summary
With 225 currently listed for sale and an average price of $19,142, 44.0% of 2024 Hyundai Elantra listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.

Why it stands out
The 2024 Hyundai Elantra stands out as a compact sedan that has moved well beyond the bargain-basement image Hyundai once had in this segment. According to the test-drive summary, the current seventh-generation model debuted in 2020 and helped the Elantra compete more directly with other compact sedans on substance, especially in how it drives and feels. For 2024, a mild refresh adds more style and standard equipment, and the car’s appeal is reinforced by its sporty-looking design and wider range of trim levels.
It is also notable for offering multiple powertrain options and even a manual transmission, which is uncommon enough to be a real differentiator for buyers who want more involvement. At the same time, the Elantra is not without compromises: the design may be polarizing, the base engine is described as underwhelming, and the interior materials can feel cheap. Even so, the overall impression is of a well-mannered sedan that balances comfort and economy with a genuinely entertaining driving character.

The car was a great value for the money I spent. It had plenty of features, and ultimately great MPG and price. I loved that it still has manufactuer warranty and is a certified-pre owned. I did wish it supported Hyundai's digital key, but the BlueLink is another phenomenal feature, other than having to pay every year. For other cars in this class such as the Civic, Corolla, Forte, K4, Impreza etc. It is reasonably priced, only competitive with the K4. If I wanted all of these features in one of those other vehicles especiallt the Civic I would be paying significantly more.

I live the interior and the way it drives. It feels very much my style and I can see myself driving it every day.

I was going to buy a new one except for a design I cannot live with. The passenger side grab bar is unsightly. If something falls on the floor, you wont be able to grab it at a stop light. It is located between the gear shift and the passenger side. Looks like a hospital bed rail. Pass. Drives great. Ive bought 4 Hyundais so I like them but I would rather go for an older model without the bar. Thats what I am looking for now.

Is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra a good car?
The 2024 Hyundai Elantra is a mixed but appealing choice if you want a compact sedan that balances style, efficiency, and driving enjoyment with some clear compromises. It earns a 3/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating.
The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Cost effectiveness.
The Elantra’s strongest case is that it has moved well beyond its bargain-car roots and now competes on substance, especially in how it drives and feels. It also offers a wider range of trim levels and a mild refresh for 2024 that adds more style and standard equipment.
The trade-offs are real: the design can be polarizing, the base engine is underwhelming, and the interior materials can feel cheap.
With 34.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra reliable?
The 2024 Hyundai Elantra comes across as a well-sorted compact sedan with a strong value proposition and a long warranty, which helps support confidence for used buyers. The expert summary describes it as properly sorted, and the performance notes show a lineup that ranges from efficient to genuinely entertaining.
The performance write-up also points to a broad powertrain lineup, including a base setup that is adequate around town and more capable options for buyers who want stronger acceleration or better efficiency. On the cost side, every Elantra includes three years of maintenance and a five-year/60,000-mile warranty.
For used ownership, the main long-term risk is that a car with this much variety can hide very different wear patterns depending on trim and powertrain, so condition matters a lot.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Hyundai Elantra?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a sportier trim. Focus on overall condition, interior wear, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim level you’re paying for.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The SE, SEL, and Limited trims lose the lowered stance and sporty bumpers that help the car look more upscale, and the base SE also misses the custom gauge layouts found on upper trims.
- Powertrain: The common 2.0-liter four-cylinder with a CVT is adequate around town but weak and loud on the highway; the 1.6-liter turbo-four in the N Line is much quicker, and the Elantra N is the most powerful option.
- Safety package: The SE and N come standard with forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, a driver attention monitor, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and auto high beams. SEL trims with the Convenience Package and Limited trims add cyclist detection and front cross-traffic alert, plus adaptive cruise control. The Limited adds rear emergency braking, a 360-degree camera system, front and rear parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist.
- Infotainment: The SE gets an 8-inch touchscreen, while SEL-and-above trims get a 10.25-inch screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not supported, and blind-spot cameras are limited to the Limited trim.
- Fuel efficiency: The base SE is rated at 32/41/36 mpg, the SEL and Limited at 31/40/34 mpg, the N Line at 28/35/31 mpg, and the Elantra Hybrid Blue at 51 mpg city, 58 mpg highway, and 54 mpg combined.
Which 2024 Hyundai Elantra trim should I buy?
The 2024 Hyundai Elantra is offered in 7 trim levels: SE, SEL, Limited, N Line, N, Hybrid Blue, Hybrid Limited.
Here's the short version:
- SE: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry point and solid efficiency, but you give up the richer tech presentation and some of the nicer visual and convenience touches found higher up.
- SEL: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the larger touchscreen and a more complete feature set without pushing you into the pricier sport or luxury-oriented versions.
- Limited: This is the trim to choose if you want the most comfort and tech, including the available blind-spot camera views, Highway Driving Assist, and the most complete safety and parking equipment.
- N Line: This is the right pick if you want the most balanced driving experience, with the stronger turbo engine, quicker transmission, and a firmer but still livable ride.
- N: This is the enthusiast choice if you want the most power and the most aggressive performance character, but it comes with the biggest compromises in comfort and refinement.
- Hybrid Blue: This is the efficiency-first choice if your priority is fuel economy above all else.
- Hybrid Limited: This is the best fit if you want hybrid efficiency with a more upscale equipment mix.
The Limited is the only trim with blind-spot camera views, and Highway Driving Assist is standard only on the Limited.

- Inventory: There are 6,250 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.97% compared with last year.

What is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra's resale value?
The current average of $19,664 sits slightly below last year's $20,693.
That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on trim, mileage, and condition rather than just the model name.
If you keep the car in strong condition and avoid examples with accident history, you should be in a better position when it’s time to sell. The current pricing trend also suggests buyers are still comparing the Elantra closely against other compact sedans, so presentation and equipment matter.
Is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra safe?
The 2024 Elantra received a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety named it a Top Safety Pick.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
The standard safety suite includes forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, a driver attention monitor, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and auto high beams. SEL trims with the Convenience Package and Limited trims add cyclist detection and front cross-traffic alert, plus adaptive cruise control.
The Limited trim adds rear emergency braking, a 360-degree camera system, front and rear parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist. The safety testing also notes that IIHS did not perform all of its standard crash tests, and rear passengers had a higher risk of injury in the new frontal crash test.
Should I buy a 2024 Hyundai Elantra or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 34.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.97% compared with last year.
- The 2024 refresh adds more style and standard equipment, and the lineup still offers multiple powertrain choices and a manual transmission.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $19,044, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $19,664 average.
- It offers wide-ranging appeal in one compact sedan.
The bottom line: If you want the newer refresh and a broader current-market selection, the 2024 is the better target. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2023 is the smarter value play.
