How much does the 2024 Ford Escape cost?

Prices have softened 4.64% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,782 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy range of choices.

Is the 2024 Ford Escape a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Ford Escape earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 8/10.

The 2024 Escape is a familiar compact crossover with a current design rather than a full redesign, and it leans on variety, comfort, and technology to stay relevant. It offers multiple powertrain options, a comfortable ride, and impressive tech, which makes it appealing if you want an easy everyday SUV.

The trade-offs are clear: the interior materials feel cheap, cargo space is uncompetitive, and value for money is weak. Even so, the market still shows 32.7% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Ford Escape reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Escape’s reliability case is helped by its familiar, carryover design and the fact that it arrives without major changes after the 2023 update. Its standard powertrain lineup and mainstream mechanical setup also point to a vehicle that should be straightforward to live with.

The available turbocharged engine is described as quick, and the hybrid is presented as the efficiency-focused choice for buyers who want to save money over time. Ford also includes standard driver-assistance technology and a broad tech package, which can reduce day-to-day friction if you value convenience.

If you’re buying used, the main long-term risk is that the Escape’s value proposition is weaker than its feature list, so condition and price matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford Escape?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a heavily optioned trim. Focus on overall condition, because the Escape’s value depends heavily on whether the specific vehicle feels well kept and priced appropriately.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes Active, ST-Line, ST-Line Select, ST-Line Elite, Platinum, and Plug-in Hybrid trims. The base trim appears to be canceled, so you should pay close attention to which equipment is missing on lower trims and whether the cabin materials and feature content justify the asking price.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder with 180 horsepower and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 250 horsepower. The hybrid is the efficiency play, while the turbocharged 2.0-liter is quicker but not the best value.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights. Higher trims add adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, predictive speed assist, evasive steering assist, lane-centering assist, and a 360-degree surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: Lower trims use an 8-inch display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM 360L, and FordPass Connect with Wi-Fi hotspot access. Upper trims get a 12.3-inch display, and the 13.2-inch Sync 4 system adds Amazon Alexa and a three-year connected-navigation subscription.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid is rated to return up to 39 mpg in combined driving, while the turbocharged 2.0-liter averages 26 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2024 Ford Escape trim should I buy?

The 2024 Ford Escape is offered in 6 trim levels: Active, ST-Line, ST-Line Select, ST-Line Elite, Platinum, and Plug-in Hybrid.

Here's the short version:

• Active: This is the entry point if you want the Escape’s core formula without paying for the pricier appearance and tech upgrades. It makes sense if you want the least expensive path into the lineup, but you should compare its equipment carefully against the better-equipped trims because the Escape’s value story improves as you move up only when the added features matter to you.
• ST-Line: This is the trim to target if you want the hybrid powertrain, since the hybrid requires an upgrade to ST-Line. It’s the best-value choice for shoppers who care about efficiency and want the Escape’s stronger cost-effectiveness angle without jumping into the pricier upper trims.
• ST-Line Select: This trim adds more equipment and a sportier presentation, but the 2.0-liter turbo setup is described as overkill for the Escape’s mission. It makes sense only if you specifically want the extra power and are comfortable paying more for it.
• ST-Line Elite: This is the loaded version of the sporty trim and brings the larger display, premium tech, and available upscale touches. It suits you if you want the most feature-rich gas-powered Escape, but it is also the trim where the price starts to feel hard to justify.
• Platinum: This trim sits near the top of the lineup and is aimed at buyers who want a more upscale feel. Based on the test-drive commentary, you should compare it carefully against the ST-Line trims because the Escape’s interior materials and overall value remain concerns.
• Plug-in Hybrid: This is the efficiency-focused choice if you want electric-only driving capability and lots of standard equipment. It’s the right pick if your priority is maximizing fuel savings and you can live with front-wheel drive.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard, and higher trims add more advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford Escape?

The market looks moderately favorable if you’re a selective buyer.

• Deal availability: 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,782 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.64% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,253, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Ford Escape's resale value?

The current average of $22,730 sits slightly below last year's $23,837.

That softer pricing suggests the Escape is already carrying some depreciation pressure, which can be a mixed signal for future resale. If you buy at the right price now, you may reduce the risk of taking a bigger hit later.

The model’s broad availability also means buyers have choices, which can keep resale competition high. On the other hand, strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when you eventually sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Ford Escape safe?

The 2024 Escape earns five-star ratings across the board, aside from a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard, and it includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights. Higher trims add adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, predictive speed assist, evasive steering assist, lane-centering assist, and a 360-degree surround-view camera system.

One caveat is that the lane-keeping systems and predictive speed assist were not always smooth in testing, and some advanced features shut down unexpectedly during one drive. The IIHS has not rated the 2024 Escape, though the 2023 model earned Good ratings except for a Marginal score in a side-impact test.

Should I buy a 2024 Ford Escape or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.64% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Ford says the Base trim appears to be canceled, and the 2024 model carries over the 2023 update without major changes.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $22,718, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $22,730 average.
• It offers an upscale, tech-forward feel with strong safety and infotainment tech.

The bottom line: If you want the latest version of this generation and a broad used-car selection, the 2024 is the cleaner choice. If you’re focused on shaving a little more off the purchase price, the 2023 is close enough in character to be worth a look.
