How much does the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu cost?

Prices have softened 9.81% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,219 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy number of options to compare.

Is the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Generally — the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu earns a 4/5 user rating, which points to solid overall appeal for used shoppers. The overview frames it as a roomy, value-oriented midsize sedan with easy-to-use features and a practical price position, so it fits best if you want space and simplicity rather than a sporty driving experience. It also benefits from a comfortable feel and a straightforward ownership experience, especially if you prioritize everyday usability. Good and great deals make up 36.2% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview says the later years of this generation earned the best reliability reputation among front-wheel-drive Malibus, which is encouraging if you want a used sedan with a more settled track record. It also notes that the Malibu’s final-generation cars are generally more reliable than earlier ones, reinforcing the idea that this is a safer bet than older versions. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright complexity and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by age or heavy use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Chevrolet Malibu?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on every candidate, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Put the inspection focus on overall condition, since the Malibu’s appeal depends heavily on whether it still feels tidy, comfortable, and easy to live with. Pay extra attention to signs of neglect in the cabin and any evidence that the car has been used hard, because a value-oriented sedan makes the most sense when it has been kept in good shape.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,219 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.81% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 81.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,386, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $18,386 sits slightly below last year's $20,387.

That price movement suggests the Malibu has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right number today. Because the market has softened, your resale outcome will depend heavily on how well you preserve the car’s condition and how carefully you choose your purchase price. A lower entry cost gives you a better chance of limiting losses later if you decide to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2024 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.81% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2024 Malibu makes the most sense if you want the final-year version of this practical, value-focused sedan and you care more about comfort and simplicity than driving excitement. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth considering, but the 2024 is the cleaner choice when you want the latest version of the Malibu’s formula and a market that still offers plenty of inventory.
