What’s New for the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu
Changes are minimal for 2024. They include standard rear parking sensors, a standard tire inflation kit, and a new color option.
Design
Trims for the ’24 Malibu are LS, RS, 1LT, and 2LT. The LS comes standard with 16-inch alloy wheels. Moving up to the 1LT adds 17-inch alloy wheels, and the range-topping 2LT comes with 19-inch alloy wheels.
The RS features 18-inch alloy wheels and some unique styling touches, such as dual exhaust outlets, a rear spoiler, a black grille, a black Chevy “Bowtie,” and black exterior badging.
Powertrain
No matter which trim you select, the 2024 Malibu comes equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It makes 163 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed to the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT). This powertrain returns an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 27 mpg city, 35 highway, and 30 combined.
Interior
Standard equipment on the base LS trim includes remote start, push-button start, remote keyless entry, and cloth upholstery. Moving up to the RS adds an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat.
The 1LT comes equipped with dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, and satellite radio. Moving up to the LT also opens up some additional options and packages, including an available moonroof. You can also get the Sport Edition, Redline Edition, or Midnight Edition—each with their own unique styling cues. Each one features a leather-wrapped steering wheel and leather-wrapped shift-knob.
The 2LT adds an 8-inch driver-information screen in the instrument panel, as well as a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, and perforated leather upholstery.
The Malibu provides 15.7 cubic feet of trunk space, which is solid for the class.
Technology
The standard infotainment system across the 2024 Malibu lineup is an easy-to-use 8-inch touch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. It also comes equipped with a Wi-Fi hotspot and is available with wireless device charging, a nine-speaker Bose premium stereo system, and a fully digital instrument panel.
Safety
The Malibu comes standard with automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and rear parking sensors. The Malibu also comes with the Teen Driver system, which allows the owner to set speed and volume limits on a second set of keys. On the LS, the available Driver Confidence package adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Other available driver-assistance tech includes adaptive cruise control, front parking sensors, and hands-free park assist.
Pricing
At the time of this writing, the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu has a base MSRP of $26,195 for the LS trim. The RS trim starts at $27,095 and the 1LT trim starts at $29,195. The range-topping 2LT trim starts at $32,595. The Chevrolet Malibu is backed by a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.
