How much does the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu cost?

Prices have softened 9.24% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,517 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used options to compare.

Is the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Generally — the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu earns a 4/5 user rating, which fits its role as a practical, value-oriented midsize sedan. The overview points to a roomy cabin, easy-to-use features, and a price position that often undercuts rivals like the Camry and Accord, so it makes the most sense if you want space and simplicity more than excitement. It also benefits from the later-generation Malibu’s more polished look and more comfortable feel, even though it was never the most refined choice in the class. 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview says the Malibu’s later years earned the best reliability reputation among front-wheel-drive Malibus, which is encouraging if you want a used sedan that stayed straightforward through the end of its run. Its easy-to-use features and available active safety equipment also support low-stress ownership. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about complexity and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by years of everyday use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Chevrolet Malibu?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any Malibu you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on overall condition, signs of past bodywork, and how well the cabin and controls have held up. Because this model is valued for practicality and simplicity, you’ll want to pay close attention to whether the car still feels tidy, well-kept, and consistent with its mileage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,517 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.24% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,592, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $18,592 sits slightly below last year's $20,485.

That price movement suggests the Malibu has softened enough to give you a better entry point as a buyer, but it also means future sellers may need to stay competitive on pricing. Because the model is positioned as a value-focused sedan, resale strength will likely depend on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained. If you buy carefully now, you may be able to preserve more of that value later by keeping the car clean, documented, and mechanically sound.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2024 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.24% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the Malibu at the end of its run, the 2024 is the cleanest choice for a straightforward, value-first used sedan with a strong supply of listings and a favorable price trend. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby model years to see whether a similar Malibu offers a lower entry price while still giving you the space and simplicity you want.
