Used 2023 Toyota Tundra for Sale nearElgin, IL

How much does the 2023 Toyota Tundra cost?

Prices have softened 6.28% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,825 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Toyota Tundra a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Toyota Tundra earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its powerful engine, comfortable interior, smooth ride, stylish appearance, and fuel efficiency. That lines up well with the truck’s use case as a full-size pickup that blends capability with a more modern, tech-forward feel. The main trade-offs are a potentially polarizing design and the fact that not all safety features are standard. Even so, the market still shows 38.5% good or great deals, which points to solid value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Toyota Tundra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck people feel good about living with over time, especially because it is described as powerful, comfortable, smooth-riding, and fuel-efficient. The expert review also emphasizes a stout engine and a reliable platform, which reinforces the sense that this is a truck built to be counted on. ToyotaCare adds factory-scheduled maintenance and roadside assistance for two years or 25,000 miles at no additional cost. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about day-to-day dependability and more about making sure the specific truck has been maintained well and not overused.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota Tundra?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any truck you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important on a full-size pickup, where wear can vary a lot depending on how the truck was used. Focus on condition, equipment, and whether the truck has the features you want, since some safety items are not standard across the lineup.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SR and SR5 are the most basic versions, and the SR5 is where the SX appearance package appears. Higher trims add more upscale equipment, and the 14-inch touchscreen becomes standard above the SR5.
• Powertrain: You get a standard 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 with 389 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, plus an available hybrid version with 437 hp and 583 lb-ft. The 10-speed automatic helps keep power delivery smooth and consistent.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, road-sign detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, lane-tracing assist, and a sway warning system. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available, but not standard across the lineup.
• Infotainment: An 8-inch touchscreen comes standard on the SR and SR5, while the available 14-inch screen is standard on all trims above that. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system includes fast response times and crisp graphics.
• Fuel efficiency: The truck was designed to improve efficiency, and the owner feedback specifically calls out fuel efficiency as a strength.

Which 2023 Toyota Tundra trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota Tundra is offered in 7 trim levels: SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro, and Capstone.

Here's the short version:

• SR: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Tundra experience at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the basics and plan to keep costs down.
• SR5: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it opens the door to the SX appearance package and can be paired with the larger 14-inch touchscreen. It is the trim to target if you want a strong mix of value and features.
• Limited: This trim adds more convenience and tech, including access to the hybrid powertrain and the wireless phone charger. It suits you if you want a more well-rounded daily driver.
• Platinum: This is a more upscale choice with the hybrid powertrain standard and a richer equipment mix. It fits you if comfort and premium features matter more than price.
• 1794 Edition: This trim leans into a more luxurious personality and also gets the hybrid powertrain standard. It is a good fit if you want a more distinctive upscale truck.
• TRD Pro: This is the off-road-focused trim, with a lift, Fox shocks, locking rear differential, crawl control, and other trail hardware. Choose it if you want the most capable dirt-road personality in the lineup.
• Capstone: This is the luxury flagship, aimed at buyers who want the most premium Tundra experience. It makes sense if you want the top-end truck and are willing to pay for it.

Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available, but they are not standard across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota Tundra?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 38.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,825 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.28% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $41,920, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota Tundra's resale value?

The current average of $41,920 sits slightly below last year's $44,727.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also mean slower appreciation if you plan to sell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that a truck bought at a lower entry point has less room to lose value from here than one purchased near the top of the range. Strong demand for well-kept examples should still support resale, especially if the truck has desirable equipment and a clean history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Toyota Tundra safe?

The 2023 Toyota Tundra earns a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 comes standard, and it includes automatic emergency braking, road-sign detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, lane-tracing assist, and a sway warning system. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available, but they are not standard across the lineup. That means you should pay close attention to trim and option content if safety equipment is a priority for you.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Tundra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 38.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.28% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• For 2023, Toyota keeps the redesigned truck largely unchanged while adding the SX appearance package.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $37,942, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $41,920 average.
• It introduced the new-generation Tundra with major updates and multiple cab and bed combinations.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $43,884, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $41,920 average.
• It leans further into capability and personality with a stronger focus on the i-Force Max drivetrain and TRD Pro refinement.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned Tundra with a strong value story, the 2023 is the sweet spot. If price matters most, the 2022 can save you money, while the 2024 makes sense if you want to spend more for a slightly newer take.
